Even CJI not spared by Cyber crime fraudsters. Used his name to ask for Rs 500 from an X user. Message goes viral

The cases of cyber frauds have become very common these days with cases going beyond the control of the government’s law enforcing authorities including those dealing with cyber frauds in police departments or elsewhere. Several detailed stories have been published number of times in leading dailies of the national capital and the headquarters of these cyber frauds literally traced by the police and cyber fraud regulators in Jharkhand and other distant locations of Bihar n Odissa etc but of no avail. These cyber frauds are going on unabatedly and appeals by social media users about their accounts being hacked and these fraudsters duping their FB friends asking for money in their names by hacking their FB accounts have become very common. As if this was not enough these cyber frauds having no threat of law are not even sparing senior judges and police officers including top bureaucrats. This would be shocking to all that not even our honourable chief justice of India’s dignified position was spared by these fraudsters. According to a news an X user reported that a message was received by him that mentioned : HELLO , I AM CJI and we have an urgent meeting of the COLLEGIUM and I am stuck at Cannaught Place. Can you send me Rs.500 for the cab ? I will will return the money, Once reached the court : Sent from IPad ( exhibiting the pic of CJI) .

This message went viral in social media with everyone tight lipped wondering whether this is really a fraud or a genuine message. After the viral post came to the notice of the Supreme Court authorities the apex court took the suo motto X cognisance and on the quick directives of the CJI the Cyber fraud department has registered an FIR with the matter being investigated thoroughly and in depth. This message activated the entire cyber frauds regulatory department with their senior officers coming into real action especially after the CJI personally took it seriously and lodged an FIR. The home ministery too came into an action mode after this unusual incident.

According to news reports lots of such cases have come to the notice of the cyber frauds regulators and one such case was related to another judge of Rohini Court that happened a month ago. The cyber frauds had literally captured the messenger on the phone of the Aditional sessions judge Rohini for at least six hours time. As a result the friends of the said judge were duped of Rs.1.10 lakhs by these cyber frauds. The matter was reported to Roshini district cyber frauds department of Delhi police under sections IPC( BNS) 318(4) and 319(2) . The matter was being investigated since then.

These are high profile cases which do invite the attention of the cyber frauds regulators and the fraudsters in such cases are usually caught as well but what about those hundreds of victims whose hard earned money is being siphoned off by these fraudsters and the cyber crime regulatory department sleuths become just mere spectators ?
