Earlier blamed for Punj Pyara statement seeking apologies doing sewa in Gurudwara Rawat’s statement declaring Sidhu face of Punjab elections raise hullabaloo in Congress

Though Punjab got a new Dalit chief minister after the ouster of captain Amrinder Singh who successfully ruled Punjab for 9.5 years and led the party to victory in state assembly as well as the parliament elections against the saffron party SAD wave, it looks the internal party crisis do not intend to subside down.

The Punjab Congress incharge national general secretary Harish Rawat is the reason behind.

His desperate statements often put the party in disarray as was the case in Uttarakhand earlier when he raised the issue of declaring in advance the prospective chief minister face strongly objected and opposed by the then party President Pritam Singh and opposition leader Indira Hridayesh including Uttarakhand Congress In charge Devendra Yadav finally putting the issue in cold storage after lot of hullabaloo, bringing factionalism to the fire in media.

Similarly in Punjab development after the name of the new Dalit CM was finalised and swearing in done, Harish Rawat’s statement created quite a furore in Congress corridors.

After Charanjit Singh Cheema had been sworn in as Punjab CM, desperate Congress general secretary incharge Punjab, Harish Rawat issued a statement saying that the Punjab assembly elections will be fought under the leadership of Navjyot Singh Sidhu.

This created tremendous hullabaloo with the exasperated former Punjab Congress chief whose name was earlier on the cards for the next Punjab CM tweeting : Mr. Rawat’s statement that elections will be fought under Sidhu is baffling. It’s likely to undermine CM’s authority but also negate the very ” Raison d’ etre of his selection for the position tweeted Jakhar, also son of the former speaker of Lok Sabha and union minister.

This instant reaction contradicting the statement of Harish Rawat by Sunil Jakhar compelled party’s chief spokesman Randeep Singh Surjewala dash into the scene as a fire fighter to put the crisis at rest saying that the elections will be fought under the leadership of both, the Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi and Punjab Congress chief Navjyot Singh Sidhu.

In a way contradicting Harish Rawat’s statement, though not naming him and instead putting the blame of opposition leaders to dose the fire created by Rawat, Surjewala while speaking to media catagorically said that our faces will be Charanjit Singh Channi and Navjyot Singh Sidhu as also ordinary Congress workers and leaders who will be supporting them.

If anybody says one or the other will be the face, intentionally or otherwise, it is being misinterpreted by the media further criticizing the BJP, BSP and SAD for criticizing a Dalit CM of Punjab.

It may be recalled that on Sunday media savvy Harish Rawat who had to earlier seek public apologies on his slip of tongue statement comparing Navjyot Singh Sidhu n others with Punjab Pyaras, had said the the upcoming elections of Punjab would be fought under the leadership of Navjyot Singh Sidhu.

Though the Congress face in the elections will be decided by Congress high command but given the circumstances Sidhu will be the party’s face said Rawat.

Rawat also criticized the BJP, SAD n BSP for unwarrantedly, shamelessly and regrettably criticizing the new Dalit CM of Punjab Charanjit Singh Channi. Annoyed over the statement of Harish Rawat, the former Punjab Congress chief and son of the former speaker 67 years old Balram Jakhar was the front runner in the race for Punjab CM but was later on sidelined, he being a non Sikh has rattled him badly say political analyst. His anger oriented revenge against Rawat was reflected in his tweet day say political analysts.

Kindly recall that AICC general secretary Harish Rawat had been quite active in resolving the Punjab crisis for the last several months as the centre’s emissary meeting both Captain Amarinder Singh and Navjyot Singh Sidhu finally convincing Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi to install the former as Punjab state Congress chief despite the refusal of Captain Singh to do so. However, things materialised finally ousting Amarinder Singh from the scene installing a Dalit CM after lot if challenging exercises sidelining the names of Sunil Jakher, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa from the race with Ambika Soni voluntarily backing out recommending a Sikh to replace the outgoing CM. Harish Rawat is active hectically in Uttarakhand as well as un Punjab trying to play a prominent role in both the crisis ridden states. After the resolution of Punjab crisis he is back to Uttarakhand to rejuvenate the ongoing Parivartan Yatra in his capacity as the chairman of the Uttarakhand election campaign committee chief with his stooge Ganesh Godiyal already installed as the state party chief sidelining the previous chief Pritam Singh considered to be his ardent opponent.
