Dynamite explosions in progress in Lakhwar Vyasi project being built on Yamuna , Arya says : Government has not learnt lessons from Joshimath
In Uttarakhand while the environmentalists, and conscious social activists have been time and again outrightly opposing the constructions of big Hydropower projects terming them as warning signals to the already fragile environment of Uttarakhand Himalayas, the works on atleast three major hydropower projects namely Lakwar Vyasi Project on Yamuna river, Jamrani Dam Multipurpose Project on Gola river in Nainital district and Vishnuprayag Hydroelectric project to produce 400 Megawatt power in Alaknanda river are on full swing, going unabatedly.
Though the government agencies have been outrightly opposing using of dynamites during the construction activities of these dams after the environmentalists, green activists and intellectuals registered their strong protests from time to time , but fact of the matter is that this is an open lie as the big contractors dealing in the construction of these overambitious projects are openly violating the environmental norms and using dynamites on massive scale to break the mountains which are already in a growing stage, thus making them hollow from inside, filling the rivers with hundreds of tons of silt, dust and stones that come after these explosions and even spoil the agricultural fields, fill the rivers with rubbish effecting n obstructing their smooth flow and creating noise pollution as well.
Not only this but these massive dynamite explosions negatively impact the nearby mountains and leak the internal aquifers with the thunderous sound which change the course /natural ways of the water streams inside the mountains.

According to the leader of opposition in Uttarakhand assembly Yashpal Arya who has posted the video on his handle X written : This video is of Lakhwar dam which is being constructed between Juddo and Loharu Vilage on river Yamuna. See how the explosions are being carried out during the construction of this dam. The government is no learning anything from Joshimath wrote Yashpal Arya on X also posting the video.
It may be recalled that apart from the above three big hydropower projects on Alaknanda , Bhagirathi and Ram Ganga – several numerous other hydropower projects are under construction posing direct threat to the rivers, environment and lives of the people. In Uttarakhand only small run of the river projects are feasible but it is beyond anyone’s understanding as to how and why the successive BJP and Congress governments have granted permission for the construction of such huge hydropower projects knowing very well that Uttarakhand is under Zone 5, highly sensitive for tectonic upheavals in the near future of bigger highly dangerous earthquakes in the offing as already warned by the global earth scientists, including the seismologists of Waldia institute as well as Roorkee.
