After observing the plight of these marshals not getting their salaries for the last three, four months the Delhi government minister Aatishi had convened a meeting with the representatives and senior officers to resolve this issue but nothing constructive have happened despite the fact that apart from the minister various senior bureaucrats of Delhi government viz. Finance, revenues, transport and DTC have participated in this significant meeting. In this hectic meeting the issues of salaries of marshals, defence volunteers and Maulvies were discussed threadbare but no unanimity was arrived at as a result the marshals are extremely annoyed disenchanted and furious. Instead a letter was issued by the DTC that from now onward the marshals’ role will be played by the drivers and conductors of DTC which is neighbor impossible as the marshals were ensuring the safety and protection of women commuters with dexterity. They are highly apprehensive that the Delhi government may get rid of these Marshals this adversely affecting their families bringing them on the brink of disaster. The senior bureaucrats in the meeting with minister Aatishi are trying to sideline the issue of salary of Marshals under the guise of statements that since the CCTV cameras, panic button and communication system have been fitted in the buses, what is the need to engage the marshals? The maximum objection is being raised by the finance department of Delhi government whereas the transport department is in favour of these marshals reveal the news reports. The bureaucrats say that there is no need of these marshals in buses as they are need more in disaster management related services. The delay in giving the salaries of the marshals by Delhi government has resulted in direct confrontation between the government and self defence volunteers and marshals not getting their salaries for the last four months.
