The veteran leader of Bhartiya Janata Party Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi who was asked not to come at Ayodhya on January 22, the day prime minister Narendra Modi is inaugurating the consecration ceremony of Ram Temple has completed 90 years of his life entering the journey of 91 year.
Born in 1934 today is the 90 th Birthday of Dr. Murlimanohar Joshiji, fmr union HRD minister, former professor of physics in Allahabad University and student leader during and against the colonial era, from where late Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna too was the elected president. Both had been union ministers in Central government several times and Bahuguna also the CM of the largest state UP who resolved several complex issues within no time like the then Shia Sunni clash, the statewide teachers agitation, the state police revolt etc in 1974. Though H. N. Bahuguna was a left oriented politician having played quite a pivotal role in opposing emergency during 1975 terming it as draconian and joining the then Janata Party where both Dr Murlimanohar Manohar Joshi and Bahuguna served together as union ministers finally the Janata Party ripping apart on the dual membership issue and anti RSS stance raised by H. N. Bahuguna and others. Why I am talking about both the leaders is because both belong to Uttarakhand, one from Garhwal and another from Kumaon and studied as well as inculcated in them the dashing leadership qualities while studying and struggling in Allahabad, now Prayagraj during their student days prior and after India seeking independence. While during those days Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi was more into academics, though a student leaders as we’ll later in becoming a professor of Physics , Bahuguna, was a revolutionary kind of activist with Britishers having kept Rs 25000 award on his head catching him dead or alive. Bahuguna died in 1989 in Houston after his heart surgery and was ten years elder to Dr. Joshi, may be his inspiration to an extent then. Just a guess. डॉ. जोशी के करीबी पूर्व पार्षद हरीश अवस्थी के मुताबिक, मुझे 2019 के लोकसभा चुनाव से कुछ महीने पहले जोशी जी का एक बयान याद आ रहा है, जब एक पत्रकार ने डॉ. जोशी से कानपुर एयरपोर्ट पर पूछा था, प्रोफेसर होने के नाते सर. मोदी शासन के 5 साल पूरे होने वाले हैं, क्या आप मोदी सरकार का समर्थन करेंगे? आप कितने अंक देंगे? जवाब में जोशी जी ने कहा, ”कोरे कागज पर अंक कैसे दिये जा सकते हैं ?”
