Dr. Manmohan Singh accorded final adieu at Nigambodh Ghat amid tears of those present there

Today on 28 December 2024 at 12:56 pm, the mortal remains of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh were immersed in the five elements. He died on the evening of 26 December 2024 at AIIMS Delhi after being admitted due to problem in respiration due to age related complications. His funeral took place with state honors at Nigambodh Ghat Delhi. His mortal remains were consigned to flames by his family with a military gun salute. In the morning his coffin was placed at AICC headquater 24 Akbar Road till 10 AM for the darshan of the party leaders and activists. Hundreds of Congress leaders, party activists and his well-wishers marched on foot from Akbar Road to Rajghat hailing the former PM raising slogans.

On this occasion at Rajghat – the President, Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker OM Birla, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, several Union Ministers, CDS, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinay Saxena, Chiefs of the three armed forces, several Chief Ministers, several members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Dr Manmohan Singh’s wife, three daughters and other family members, many senior leaders of the ruling and opposition parties, and a large gathering of people, including many eminent personalities and foreign guests, paid their humble tributes to him at Nigambodh Ghat.

The great hero of economic reforms, the Prime Minister of the country for ten years, the renowned economist adorned with simplicity and hard work, Man Mohan of the country will always be remembered by the people. President Droupadi Murmu bid the final farewell by laying the wreath on the mortal remains of Dr. Manmohan Singh, during the funeral conducted with Full State Honours. She, along with other dignitaries from India and abroad, witnessed the cremation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid last respects to former Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. His service to India will always be cherished said PM Modi after laying his wreath and bidding him final adieu at Nigam Bodh Ghat.

Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi laid wreath at the coffin of late PM Dr.Manmohan Singh at AICC headquarter this morning and paid his last respects. He said in grief that Dr Singh’s humility, guidance and contribution to the country will always live in the pages of history.

The chairperson of the Congress parliamentary party Sonia Gandhi while paying her last respects at Nigam Bodh Ghat in tears said Dr. Manmohan Singh was loved by the countrymen for his pure heart and brilliant mind. He was a luminous and beloved guiding light for us. His compassion and vision transformed and empowered the lives of millions of Indians. He leaves a void in our national life that can never be filled. We in the Congress party, and the people of India will forever be proud and grateful that we had a leader like him whose contributions to our nation’s progress and development are immeasurable wrote Smt Sonia Gandhi, CPP Chairperson in her special condolence message released on social media X by her daughter and general secretary Congress Sonia Gandhi.

Paying her final adieu after placing the wreath as a mark of respect to the iconic former PM whom she termed as a statesman Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh ji was a guardian and guide for us, we will always be proud of him. He was an ideal for crores of people of the country. He was an example of service, simplicity and dedication. Today millions of eyes are moist. Heartfelt tribute wrote Priyanka on X.

The Defence minister Rajnath Singh also paid his floral tributes to late PM Dr.Manmohan Singh at Rajghat saying that his going away from us is an irreparable loss for the nation.

The union minister Amit Shah also paid his last last respects to former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh Ji wishing May Waheguru grant peace to the departed soul.
