DOLLY SHARMA, Congress criticizes BJP government in Hathras case after acquittal of three co accused in a PC
The Congress party has strongly criticized the Uttar Pradesh government including the state Police as well as the premier investigating agency – Central Bureau of Investigation for shoddy and weak investigations in the infamous Hathras gang rape and murder of a Dalit women few years ago in which the three culprits were acquitted while only one main culprit has been accorded life imprisonment.
Addressing a hard hitting press conference at AICC headquarters, 24 Akbar Road castigating the ruling party government for its flagship programme Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, the spokesperson of All India Congress Committee Dolly Sharma said that the way the Uttar Pradesh police and the investigating agencies have shown negligence and allegedly applied pressures on witnesses including presented a weak case of a dalit women who had been obnoxiously gang raped and brutally killed in Hathras resulting in the three accused going scot free is a clear cut example of giving benefit of doubt to the culprits and letting them go scot free. This is a glaring instance of a Dalit – poor n hapless family being denied due justice said Dolly Sharma while addressing the press conference.
She catagorically said that an attempt has been made to deny due justice to a Dalit family thus depriving them of their constitutional rights to seek justice adding that as soon as this shameful and obnoxious incident of the gang rape and horrendous murder of a Dalit girl came to light the powers that be, started giving it a colour of a conspiracy in order to save the accused and suppress the matter.
It may be recalled that a special court in Hathras has in its final judgement sentence one of the main accused to life imprisonment while acquitting other three co accused angering and annoying the people concerned with this sensitive case.
