The statement of the Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat yesterday that if someone wishes you on your seventy fifth birthday then you should think that your days in active politics are over and you should honourably retire to give way to others, holds tremendous significance especially when the union home minister Amit Shah too announced his plans about his retirement the other day.
It may be recalled that even prime minister Narendra Modi had earlier devised a rule in the saffron party that the politicians in BJP should retire honourably when they complete the age of seventy five years and encourage younger politicians to take the cudgels of the party in their hands.
Even the arch rival of Prime minister Narendra Modi, former Delhi CM and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal had raised this issue asking publicly if the prime minister himself will follow the rule made by him in his party after he completed the age of seventy five years ?
This question was met with pitch silence from the echelon of the saffron party.
The statement of the RSS chief regarding retirement after 75 years and plans of HM Amit Shah etc has in fact opened a pandoras box in BJP once again whether the party will hold internal discussions on this issue seriously to show doors to several leaders including PM Narendra Modi completing 75 years of age or will let it go unheard as before ?
A senior journalist K.P.Malik has in his brief post written on X in Hindi under the title : Retirement discussions among Sangh and BJP – What’s the indication ?
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s statement that leaders should retire at the age of 75 has created a stir in political circles. Since PM Modi is going to turn 75 in September, this statement is being considered a signal for him.
Sanjay Raut also termed it a message for Modi.
A day before this, Amit Shah had also revealed his plans for retirement, which has raised questions about whether any internal planning is being done in the top leadership of BJP and RSS?
Is there a preparation for a change in the party leadership? Although the picture is not completely clear, major political signals may emerge by September analysed senior journalist K.P.Malik through his post on X.
