DM Nainital hold meeting on illegal mining before mining season starts directing all the concerned officers to keep strict vigil on illegal activities through task force and CCTV cameras
The District Magistrate of Nainital Vandana Singh held a meeting with the senior officers n members of the Mining Committee under here president as the mining session is to commence. Those present in the meeting were Divisional Forest officers C.M.Joshi , Dingat Naayak, Sub Divisional Magistrate P.R.Chouhan, SDMs Paritosh Verma, Rekha Kohli , KN Goswami , Rahul Shah, ARTI Sandeep Saini, SP City, Harbans Singh including officials of Maning and forest department. During the deliberations with the senior officers the DM Vandana Singh said n instructed that the mining to be conducted in the district at rivers Gaula, Nandaur, Kosi and Kailash should be done at the centre of the rivers than doing in the legally banned areas which usually and allegedly is the practice at odd hours in league with the authorities giving rise to controversies and law and order issues. She also issued directives to the task force and the technical team to keep vigilant tab on this clandestine mining keeping regular inspections and checks. She asked the officers to jointly see to it that roads and locations ( villages) which are adversely affected by flash floods in the rivers or impacted by the excessive Mining leading to landsliding or edge cutting etc the mining committee n concerned officials should jointly make regular inspections and prepare a proposal under river dredging policy at the earliest so as to channelise the river avoiding the edge cutting etc in time. He also issued directives for making necessary arrangements to ensure string pillars,putting and mending the CCTV cameras and internal roads , pathways etc before the commencement of the mining sessions. The forest department officials in the meeting has assured the DM Vandana Singh that after the water level comes down after 25 October the work on survey will be started and completed thereafter. The district magistrate has issued written directives for constituting mining task force to put stop on illegal mining in the district directing the officers to prepare plans according to the mining policy. The DM was very serious on this issue asking the forest, mining , police and revenue department to cumulatively prepare a string task force keeping vigilant eye on the miners to stop illegal mining and also keeping tab on their activities through the CCTV cameras.
