DISTRICT MAGISTRATE, SDM N SENIOR OFFICIALS INSPECTED PREFABRICATED HOUSES BEING CONSTRUCTED ON HORTICULTURE LAND N DHAAK VILLAGE TO HOUSE JOSHIMATH VICTIMS !

After tremendous pressure of the inhabitants of Joshimath holy town by way of their impressive protests etc the Uttarakhand government and the local administration has finally expedited its efforts to commence the construction of prefabricated houses in Joshimath to temporarily house the displaced families who have been evacuated to safer places for the time being. As a sequel to this initiative the district magistrate of Joshimath town Himanshu Khurana has on Wednesday inspected the venue where prefabricated houses are being constructed and also directed the team involved in this work to expeditiously carry out the construction work to complete the target in time. According to the latest news the work of construction of these prefabricated houses is likely to be completed in the near future. These fabricated houses are being built on the land of the horticulture department at Dhaak vicinity. These one, two and three BHK prefabricated houses are being built by the central building research Institute, Roorkie, Uttarakhand in collaboration with the state government on the land of horticulture department and near Dhaak village likely to be completed in the next few days. It may be recalled that the chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami had during his visit to Joshimath assured of building hundreds of houses to provide adequate temporary shelter to the displaced families due to their house developing cracks and the holy town subsequently sinking. According to the news – while the construction work of the prefabricated houses on horticulture land would be completed in few days from now, the work near Dhaak village land to take some time as the uneven land of this areas is being currently being levelled. The electric poles and lines for electrification of the prefabricated houses on Dhaak land being levelled has almost been completed including arrangement for the drinking water supply etc. The district magistrate Himanshu Khurana has also visited the places where displaced persons have been temporarily housed and interacted with them enquiring about the facilities being provided to them. Those who accompanied the Joshimath DM during this inspection were SDM Kumkum Joshi, Executive Engineer of RWD Alla Diya, Assistant Engineer LP Bhatt etc. It may be recalled that about 900 or more houses have developed cracks in Joshimath Holy town and there are reports of more than forty percent of Joshimath which is reportedly sinking affected by this catastrophe.
