What happened today at the Directorate of Education in Nanurkheda, the capital of Uttrakhand, has put the entire administrative system under scrutiny and shame.
During a dispute involving private schools, Director of Elementary Education Ajay Kumar Naudiyal was allegedly attacked with intent to kill. And what is surprising and shucking that the mib was being led by a responsible MLA Umesh Kumar Kau who instead of discouraging the monsters encouraged them leading to throwing of chairs and other heavy material in the Director finally being injured, profusely bleeding.
He suffered serious injuries on his face and head in the attack.
According to reports, some members of the management of private schools had arrived at the Directorate to express their demands. During the discussion, an argument escalated, and the situation turned violent.
During this time, the director was attacked. Umesh Sharma Kau the state lawmakar is also said to be present at the scene at the time of the incident.
The injured director Ajay Kumar Naudiyal was admitted to the hospital immediately after the incident.
Police arrived at the scene and began investigating and identifying the accused.
The question is that if even the top officials of a sensitive department like education are not safe, then how safe are the common employees and citizens?
Is violence now becoming the answer to dissent?
This incident is not merely an attack on an officer, but a blatant challenge to administrative dignity and law and order. Strict action must be taken against the perpetrators to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.
