After witnessing four back to back incidents of technical snags in the services of Kestrel Aviation and one other, not named when their private choppers carrying pilgrims to and fro to Kedarnath confronted the situation of crash landing etc including on chopper with six passengers literally crashing leading to six deaths in May twelve , the regulator Director General of Civil Aviation has immediately revoked their chopper services in Uttarakhand pending indepth probe. It may be recalled that in the latest case a helicopter of Kestrel Aviation private limited which started from its helipad taking passengers to Kedarnath immediately crash landed with six passengers on a highway with a pilot injured mildly in Guptkashi, Rudraprayag on May 7. Soon after this incident and three earlier occurring in the month of May the DGCA came into the action mode immediately cancelling the licence of Krestel and another company ensuring that such technical snags in choppers don’t exist in future. According to the latest news report the DGCA is so annoyed with the increasing fatal accidents in private chopper services to Kedarnath that it may even stop the chopper services in the near future if the situation doesn’t improve and chopper companies do not sincerely follow the Civil Aviation rules and regulations. Strongly dealing with the issue the DGCA said that it has a “zero tolerance” policy for safety violations, and it has stopped the operations of Kestrel Aviation Pvt Ltd including of one other company with immediate effect, pending investigation, the report said. The regulator is also actively monitoring the live camera feeds provided by the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) at Kedarnath, said the DGCA statement.
