Despite fourth round of farmers meeting to be held on Sunday, protesting farmers fired with tear gas shells on Friday
Despite the farmers and the government agreeing for a fourth round of meeting on Sunday hopefully to reach at some constructive agreement of the farmers demand as the latter has not come true to the farmers expectation despite assurance being given to them earlier, several agitating farmers were today injured after being confronted with immense teargas by the police who tried to remove the barricades at the Shambhu and Khanauri border near bala for the fourth day in sequence. The police had to fire teargas she’ll to keep the protesting farmers af bay as they were trying to remove the barricades said the police. The atmosphere was highly surcharged with protesting farmers and police having the hard day running Helter and Skelter for safety after massive rest gas fired on the protestors. Amid the tumultuous choas a 63 year old farmer died of cardiac arrest sending shock wave among the protesting farmers with their leader Jagjit Singh Dhalewal urging the protestors to pay their tributes to their protesting peasant friend by way of exhibiting wholehearted respects during his, funeral ceremony. Mr. Dhalewal urged all the farmers to be present in large numbers to pay their adieu to the deceased farmer who has laid down his precious life for their cause. Jagjit Singh Dhalewal is the leader of Samyukt Kisan movement. In addition to Dhalewal another peasant leader of Bhartiya Kisan Union namely Gurnam Singh Charuni valled the farmers for their solidarity and active non violent support to their ongoing agitation further appealing to participate in the tractor match in their respective towns maintaining full fledged discipline and being completely non violent. He also urged the protesting farmers to peacefully protest tomorrow with no road blockades. It may be recalled the the Union agriculture minister Arjun Munda, Piyush Goal etc will be meeting the peasants leaders of Kisan Samyukt Morcha for the fourth round of talks on Sunday after their three earlier meetings to reach at the amicable settlement. The demands of the protesting farmers are : legal guarantee of the minimum support price for their crops, implementation of the Swaminathan Committee report in toto, pensions for farmers, farm laborers, farm debt waiver and taking back of the cases against the farmers lodged during their previous movement etc.
