Delhi police files FIR against WFI chief and MP. Protesting Wrestlers say it is a first step victory but protest Dharna to continue

The Delhi Police has today filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court confirming that it is filing an FIR against the president of the Wrestling Federation of India and member of parliament Brijbhushan Sharan Singh against whom the women and men wrestlers have been sitting on protest dharna at Jantar Mantar for the last few days after the pause of three months giving up the earlier sit in after the Union sports minister Anuragh Thakur had assured of due justice after the probe of an investigation committee formed by ministry of sports. Some women wrestlers were also included in this committee by minister Anuragh Thakur.

The protesting Indian wrestlers of international fame and repute having won several medals for the nation staging Dharna at Jantar Mantar viz Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and others have while expressing their happiness and initial satisfaction said that this is their first important step of victory after their ongoing struggle but their Dharna will continue as before in support of other demands like the WFI president’s resignation or termination and immediate punitive action against him.

Meanwhile, the supreme Court two judge bench comprising of the chief justice of India D. Y. Chandrachud and Justice PS Narsimha has directed the Delhi Police Commissioner to assess the threat perception to one of the minor wrestler who has complained and requested for her adequate police security.

In one of her tweets posting her video as well, the protesting woman wrestler Sakshi Malik has thanked the Supreme Court of India for directing the Delhi Police to lodge an FIR / file case against the WFI chief Brijbhushan Sharan Singh which according to her is a first step victory saying that however their protest Dharna will continue at Jantar Mantar.

The senior Congress leaders Shashi Tharoor, actress n Congress leader Urmila Matondkar from Mumbai, former Haryana CM Bhupender Singh Hooda and today his son and MP Deepender Singh Hooda presented himself at Jantar Mantar and expressed his wholehearted solidarity.

Earlier ( two days ago) the pride of Jat Community and these days extremely vocal against PM Narendra Modi, former J& K Governor Satyapal Mallik had also visited Jantar Mantar and expressed his solidarity with the protesting wrestlers.

The prominent tennis player of international fame Sania Mirza too through her tweet expressed her solidarity with the wrestlers’ movement by tweeting : As an athlete but more as a woman this is too difficult to watch… they’ve brought laurels to our country and we have celebrated them, with them.. If you have done that then it’s time to now stand with them in this difficult time too.. This is a highly sensitive matter and serious allegations. I hope whatever the truth is justice is served… Sooner rather than later tweeted Sabia Mirza. The tweet of celebrity tennis player of global fame was watched by 1.2 million people 34 thousand likes n 6901 retweets.
