Another vociferous minister Atishi Bharadwaj on Wednesday raised this issue in Delhi assembly urging the Lt.Governor V.K.Saxena to reinstate the employment of over ten thousand CVDs also known as Marshalls since October 31 after the officers of the finance and revenue department of Delhi officers raised objections terminating them from services. Several thousand families of these unemployed CVDs have come in roads after their head of the family lost the job, there were in for the last several years leading to survival of their families. The minister Atishi said these CVDs have on several occasions saved the dignity of women from criminals in running buses playing a pivotal roles in women’s safety. These volunteers have been providing safety and security to the women passengers in buses and elsewhere for the last nine years and there had been number of instances when women passengers were rescued from the clutches of criminals said Atishi urging the Lt. Governor to take the humanitarian aspect into consideration and restore the h bs of these unemployed Marshalls, men and women. Raising objections on the appointment of these CVDs after nine years the senior officers of the revenue and finance department of Delhi government said that as per the Civil Defence act they can’t be employees on regular basis but casually at the time of natural disasters floods etc. However, the BJP leader Biduri too was in favour of the regularisation of these CVDs but the BJP leaders in Delhi are blaming the Delhi government for terminating the services of the 10 thousands CVDs who are on constant protest for the last more than a year.
