DELHI MCD CAMPAIGNING ON FULL SWING WITH VOTUNG ON 4 TH DECEMBER. UK CM IN DELHI.
THE voting for municipal elections of Delhi ruled by the Bhartiya Janata Party for 15 prolonged years will take place on 4 th December and three parties are in the fray this time viz Aam Admi Party, Congress and BJP.
The Delhi Municipal Elections hold tremendous political significance as the elections of national capital are considered to be the barometer of future national elections.
The ruling Bhartiya Janata Party at the centre has deputed seven CMs, one deputy CM and 27 cabinet ministers in Delhi MCD elections says Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival who claims to be winning this time with a thunderous majority of 230 seats put of 250. The BJP also claims to repeat this time in Delhi as well for the fourth consecutive term.
The Congress party however seems to be trying its best to score maximum seats with former union minister Ajay Makan and Delhi Congress chief Anil Choudhary trying hard to fight both BJP and AAP with the later again likely to intrude into majority of Congress party’s traditional vote bank including the minority vote bank that had been voting to Congress traditionally.
The Delhi MCD elections and elections in Gujarat seem to be the contests of direct fight between BJP and AAP with Congress party too leaving no stone unturned to claim significant victory in Gujarat which compelled BJP not to exceed its strength of MLAs beyond 100 numbers during the last elections in 2017 in Gujarat. Now, former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi has cut short his Bharat Jodo Yatra and is campaigning in Gujarat.
In Delhi, the BJP is banking on its traditional supporters like Uttarakhandi and Poorvanchali vote banks apart from its Punjabi, refugee and other votes especially of the trading community.
This time BJP has the advantage of giving maximum seats to Poorvanchali candidates as well as to Uttarakhandies.
It accorded about fifty tickets to Purvanchalies and nine tickets to Uttarakhandi candidates in Delhi MCD.
The AAP which has founded the Garhwali, Jaunsari and Kumaoni academy in Delhi for the first time has given mere 2 seats to Uttarakhandi whereas Congress to one probably, annoying the Pahaadi voters.
Uttarakhandies comprise of 25 to thirty lakh votes in Delhi roughly where as Purvanchalies comprise of more than 45 to 50 lakh voters.
It is usually said that combined together, the Purvanchali and Uttarakhandi voters can tilt the balance of power in favour of any party but their deflection results in division of the cumulative strength of these communities.
However, a prominent Bihari leader, former MP and Congress heavyweight in Delhi former MLA, as well for several terms, his son being currently MLA from Dwarka Mahabal Mishra has recently joined AAP tilting the scale in favour of the Delhi’s ruling party say political analysts.
However, the Bhartiya Janata Party, fearing a tough competition in Delhi MCD elections from AAP has deputed its Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and all MPs especially proactive Ajay Tamata and UK ministers as well as BJP state office bearers to campaign in Delhi especially in Pahari dominated constituencies to elicit Uttarakhandi votes.
So far, the Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has campaigned in several constituencies viz Sant Nagar, Mayor Vihar, Tukmirpur, Khanpur, Chattarpur, Sadatpur, Brahampuri, Yamuna Vihar, Vinod Nagar, and Avantika Rohini etc.
Today evening he is coming to Rohini, Avantika to address the Uttarakhandies to seek support for BJP candidates.
The Uttarakhand BJP president Mahendra Bhatt is also in Delhi campaigning in 42 constituencies in favour of BJP candidates.
On the other hand, the Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival, deputy CM Manish Sisodia and others are extensively campaigning in favour of AAP candidates drawing massive crowds.
On 1 st December, Arvind Kejrival held a huge road show in Malkaganj near Kamala Nagar enticing waving n cheering crowds, raising slogans hailing him holding party flags and play cards in their hands.
Kejrival is banking on his Delhi education, healthcare model and giving free water and concessional electricity to Delhites accusing the central government of allegedly stopping the central funds meant for Delhi to spread the message that Kejrival is not delivering.
It may be recalled that while Arvind Kejrival is relying majorly on the anti incumbency factor allegedly going against BJP propagating his Delhi development model and talking on inflation n unemployment including clearing of dump of wastes from Delhi – the BJP is banking on PM Modi’s charismatic image with Congress party accusing both BJP and AAP on various socio, political and economic fronts for their failures and being corrupt.
