Delhi in the worst category of air pollution with AQI reaching 418 points
The national capital territory of Delhi despite claiming to maintain the adequate green forest cover is truly a hell for Delhites and those entering the capital in terms of inhaling the worst polluted air especially for those who are the permanent Delhi residents.
This is so because despite claims by central and state governments and intervention of honourable Supreme Court number of times scolding them to set right the situation Delhi has never come true to the expectation of Delhi citizens with pollution and AQI going higher and higher in the most worst worrisome category making headline news usually.
This fact was substantiated today when in Delhi this morning the Delhi’s air quality turned badly severe for the first time with the advent of the winters with AIR QUALITY INDEX souring to 418, the maximum coming in the severest category which according to the Pollution Control Board adversely and acutely affects health of the people including seriously impacting those with diseases of any nature, especially those in critical condition.
In the morning at 9 the air quality index of Delhi exhibited very discouraging reading of poor AQI at 366 points while the dense forest blanketed the national capital territory with visibility in Delhi roads especially at the international Delhi airport fog not allowing the air traffic to move.
Not only this but the traffic of cars movement was also badly affected as visibility of almost zero with vehicles moving at a snails pace.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department the national capital’s temperature had dropped to 17 degrees Celcius on Wednesday morning from 17.9 degrees Celcius on Tuesday.
The AQI at Anand Vihar was also terribly high at 466.
It may be recalled that in winters due to smog, dust, especially the construction dust, heavy air traps, emissions from smoke of stubble Burning in neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana n diesel petrol emissions, the AQI increased terribly breaking all records.
According to the Delhi Pollution Control Board the AQI at 0 to 50 means minimal impact , followed by AQI going from 51 to 100 which denotes minor breathing discomfort to people with respiratory complications.
But if the AQI further increases from 10 1 to 200 it is counted in moderate category with people suffering from lungs complications or cardiac ailments suffering discomfort.
If the AQI goes up from 201 to 300 the category is rated as poor with most people on prolonged exposure suffer breathing complications.
If the AQI enhances from 301 to 400 the category is counted as very poor with people in strong exposure suffering from respiratory illnesses. From 401 to 500 the category is counted as the severest highly dangerous for the people’s health.
