Come rains or monsoon in Delhi , even elsewhere there is water all around. The underpass and below flyovers the roads are fully submerged and the area literally becomes swimming pools with dirty sewer and silt water. The present and previous governments whenever they are on the saddle of power make large claims about clearing Delhi of water logging. But all in vain. Just yesterday there was a midnight rain of a few hours and entire Delhi’s life is in quandary, chaos and confusion as if the national capital has come on halt. All roads below the flyovers and underpass are completely filled with water with no scope of cars, vehicles and two wheelers being retrieved which has fully submerged in the muddy and water with silt. In Sangam Vihar and several other colonies especially, the resettlement ones tons of garbage have mixed with the rain water entering people’s houses. The students going to school and those heading for their offices are funding it extremely difficult to commute on the roads full of water. The traffic is jammed completely at various red light intersections, main roads and under flyovers and underpass. People going to hospitals for treatment are in a real mess having been blocked on the roads due to terrific jams and traffic snarls. Even in residential colonies and markets it has become extremely difficult to walk. Even the New Delhi area and lutyens zone is not free from these hiccups. The flood control department , the MCD and other related departments like PWD have enough budget especially to clear the drains, to clean them and ensure that during the raining seasons the entire water that arrives through rains goes seamlessly into these drains clearing the waterlogging thus making the roads and underpasses clear of water logging that turn into swimming pools during the rainy season in the national capital not only affecting the daily life but also leading to losses of manpower and public exchequr as the efficiency is adversely and badly effected and attendence in offices and production centres etc is minimised. The chief minister and ministers concerned make tall claims prior to the arrival of monsoons that the situation has been set right as the cabinet meeting was very productive and fruitful. This is what Dekhi CM Rekha Gupta said a few days ago but unfortunately the situation is at square one with Delhi reeling under acute water logging here and there and everywhere. The social media is agog with these pictures with sarcastic and ridiculous comments. One senior journalist of a leading media group Soumya Gupta posted a picture of tremendous water logging in Ashok Vihar near Shalimar Bagh where CM’s residence exists and wrote in X : So-called development ! No need to join swimming pool classes in the millennium city. The picture is of Ashok Vihar phase -3. Another X user Apoorva Bharadwaj posed a picture with a girl knee deep submerged in the water logging writing on X : Sheika Dikshit lost in elections because she didn’t build free swimming pools in every Mohalla. Rekhaji had made a swimming pool in every zone. Now in Delhi not Achche din but Deep ( Gehre) days have arrived wrote Bharadwaj on X. In Sangam Vihar the situation is badly awry where the water has come in the room sfs and the vehicles are half submerged and students finding it difficult to reach their schools with several students even losing their bags in the hospital gh tides of flood water due to heavy rains.
