Delhi high court asks ED to produce evidence against Kejrival !

The Delhi High Court today granted some relief to the Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejrival who approached the court with a petition seeking relief from the coercive action by Enforcement Directorate which had sent him the 9 th Summon with Kejriwal not attending to the single summon pertaining to a money laundering case related to the new liquor excise policy of the Delhi government under which the former deputy chief minister Delhi Manish Sisodia is already behind bars in Tihar prisons. According to the latest news the Delhi High Court on Thursday asked the Enforcement Directorate while hearing the petion filed by Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival as to what evidence do they possess against him that is enabling you to issue him summons for interrogation ? The court categorically asked the ED that if they are not revealing him the reasons or evidences against him then they should disclose them to the court , the basis for issuing him summons repeatedly. It may be recalled that the investigative agency ED have been saying that they have sufficient evidence against Kejrival. The court said if they really have it they should submit the same to the court. The hearing of case commence after lunch hours and senior advocate Abhishekh Manu Singhvi was arguing for Delhi CM when the two judge bench comprising of Justices Suresh Kumar Kait and Rajesh Jain asked the ED council to present the case related files to them. The case pertains to Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival filing a petition in Delhi High Court seeking protection and relief from ED who had issued him nine consecutive summons and Kejrival terming them as illegal asking to show evidence against him. He repeated refused to present himself before the ED apprehensive of being arrested during the elections where he is busy in campaigning in favour of his party candidates. Putting forth his client’s point of view Abhishek Manu Singhvi, senior Advocate said that his client need protection from coercive action apprehensive of possible arrest in the mid of elections. He said his client is prepared to go to ED but he needs protection against possible coercive action from the honourable court. As per news reports the case pertains to Kejrival seeking relief from the court through a petition in which he said that an arbitrary action is being taking against him in money laundering charges to create a non level playing field for the ongoing general elections to divert the electoral process in favour of the ruling party. The general elections have been declared already and code of conduct implemented too. In Uttarakhand too a Congress candidate contesting from Pauri Garhwal constituency has been issued three IT notices asking to be present on 22 March at Thane, Maharashtra whereas the candidate is in Garhwal in the middle of extensive campaigning. The Uttarakhand Congress spokesperson has written a letter to the CEC Rajiv Kumar complaining about their case urging him to take serious note of this pressure tactics on an opposition candidate despite code of conduct in force.
