Delhi government’s Uttarakhand academy organises 20 days theatre workshop to train children for various Uttarakhand plays from 3rd to 9 th July at Pyarelal Auditorium

The Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsar Academy of Delhi government has commenced series of Children Theatre Workshops in thirteen schools of Delhi from 10 th to 2nd July, 2022 during the ongoing summer vacation to train children between the age of 8 to 16 years on all working days except Sundays from 3.00 PM to 6.00 PM.

The children to be trained during these twenty days will perform in various Uttarakhand plays in regional dialects to be staged in Pyarelal Bhawan auditorium from 3rd to 9 th July by Garhwal, Kumaoni and Jaunsari Academy of Delhi government.

This campaign by Delhi government is primarily organising these acting workshops for children below 16 and above 8 years to inculcate in them the exhibit their hidden acting talents and also to make them well versed with their regional dialects. Today, the author has been to one of these workshops at St Giri School, Sector 3 Rohini.

The postgraduate of National School of Drama Dr. Swarn Rawat is imparting training to the children of the nearby localities for a historical play of Garhwal, Uttarakhand titled, ” TILU RAUTELI”. The play will be shown in Pyarelal Bhawan Auditorium between 3 rd to 9th July, 2022. During the training to students Dr. Rawat is imparting various technical points as well as modalities about theatre art and acting infusing in them a sense of confidence and perfection in acting. Others who are assisting Dr Swarn Rawat are Ramesh Ghildiyal, proficient in Garhwali dialect n literateur, Rakesh Kanswal and Shruti Mathani, Asst director.

During the six days several Uttarakhandi plays in Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari dialects will be enacted by Uttarakhand Academi with roles played by the children from 8 to 16 years being trained in “Bal Rangmanch Kaarya Shala in thirteen different locations in Delhi Schools. The deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia will inaugurate the 1st day event in the presence of the Academy president M. S. Rawat and Jeet Ram Bhatt.

It may be recalled that it primarily the Delhi government only that established the Garhwali, Kumaoni, Jaunsari Academy in Delhi, honouring the sentiments of lakhs of inhabitants of Uttarakhand in Delhi despite Congress and BJP ruling here since independence. The Uttarayani festival has also been formalised officially and the Delhi govt sanctions funds to various social organisations and RWAs of UK in Delhi to celebrate it at the decentralised level.
