Delhi CM writes a letter to PM Narendra Modi to resolve the doctors strike immediately in view of surging Covid cases
The Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal sent a letter to prime minister Narendra Modi urging him to resolve all the demands of the striking doctors in Delhi strongly condemning the barbaric police action on the striking doctors.
In a letter addressed to prime minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote that while on the one hand the Omicron Corona virus is spreading expeditiously on the other hand in Delhi the doctors of centrally administered hospitals are on strike.
He said that the resident doctors of AIIMS, Safdarjung, Ram Manohar Lohia n other big hospitals are on strike due to the repeated delay of the NEET-PG counselling.
This is a matter of immense anguish as the central government has not heard to the request of the striking doctors after so much of struggle. But what is more anguishing is the fact that the police inflicted physical harm on them yesterday by dealing in a rude manner n beating them.
He wrote further, Prime minister Sir, these are the same doctors who had served the humanity ( Covid 19 patients) during the last 1.5 years during challenging pandemic times.
Only God knows how many doctors have lost their lives during this critical pandemic phase but these dedicated doctors did not turned their backs during their duties, despite so much of casualties.
However, if these doctor are constrained go on strike is a matter of grave concern said Kejriwal.
Due to the delay over the NEET – PG counselling while the career of the doctors is adversely affected, the hospitals also face shortage of doctors ultimately enhancing the pressure on remaining doctors.
I appeal to the prime minister to kindly direct the government authorities to commence early NEET PG Counselling wrote Delhi CM in his letter.
The letter concludes : Today the Covid 19 cases are surging at the pan India level. If our doctors will be on strike, how would we fight the Covid 19 pandemic questioned Kejrival in his letter.
We desire that these doctors resume their duties and serve the patients instead of being on strike.
I therefore request you ( prime minister Sir) to kindly intervene personally and resolve their problems at the earliest wrote Delhi CM to Prime minister Narendra Modi.
It may be recalled that a large number of resident doctors had protested at ITO on Monday with a clash of doctors and police occuring resulting in doctors having been manhandled who included both male and female doctors with lot of them taken into custody.
The doctors were protesting against the delay in NEET PG counselling. As a result the striking doctors called for a, complete withdrawal from all healthcare services across the nation from morning of 29th December.
