Death of PRD Jawan in Dehradun police lock up raised several questions , High level magisterial enquiry demanded
The matter of the mysterious death of a 45 year old PRD Jawan in Dehradun after being taken to the Raipur police station being termed as Suicide by hanging ( by the family) has taken an extremely controvertial turn with media finding this as allegedly a case of murder in police custody which is obviously just a speculation until proved with evidence.
Meanwhile, the SSP Dehradun Pramendra Dobal has immediately taken action in this matter and sent three police personal of the concerned police station to Police lines. He even assured to get an enquiry started on this case adhering to the norms of uf Human Rights Commission. However, the matter is not ready to subside and is becoming more and more complex and confusive with the bereaved family and people finding this death as a mystery and therefore a case of suicide/murder.
According to the Suprintendent of Police Mrs Sushila Baluni the local police got a call from Ladpur petrol pump on Saturday evening about Sunil Raturi, the PRD jawan allegedly in inebriated position not paying the bill of the petrol filled in his vehicle and misbehaving with the staff. The police arrived and tried to pacify him but after confirming that he is drunk was tested by Breathalyser. On being confirmed that he was drunk, his vehicle was impounded and the police took him to Raipur police station where he was put in a lock up due to his non cooperative attitude. In between his condition deteriorated and was taken to the Coronation hospital where he was declared dead said Mrs Baluni as per the ETV news.
The family of the deceased termed it as a suicide after victimization by the police and demanded a magisterial inquiry.
The SSP Dehradun Pramendra Dobal has said that while he has taken immediate action by sending three police personal to Police lines but their names are not being disclosed. The point now is how would the people and the bereaved family know about the actual reasons behind the death of Sunil Raturi. The obvious answer is either by post mortem report and ofcourse by way of an impartial high level enquiry.
Moreover, the staff of the Raipur police station should also be thoroughly interrogated to reach to the bottom of the reality.
Sounds shocking that in Dehradun, Rishikesh case after case of murders are erupting fast and mystery is the ultimate backup which can be cleared and resolved only by the police or the investigating agencies like CBI. The choice is ultimately of the government.
