DCW Chairperson summons DCP, New Delhi on 12 th May to with ATR report for failing to take necessary legal action against the accused despite lodging of two FIRs !

The chairperson of Delhi Commission For Women has issued summons to the deputy commissioner of police of New Delhi district , IPS Pranav Tayal asking for reasons failing to arrest the accused in the alleged sexual harrasment FIR registered after the honourable Supreme Court’s intervention in which the women wrestlers have accused the WFI chief n MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh for their alleged sexual harrasment, the allegations denied by the latter. In a tweet annexing the copies of Summons Delhi Commission For Women chairperson Swati Maliwal wrote in Hindi : First the Police have not lodged the FIR against Brijbhushan Sharan Singh. The FIR was registered under pressure of movement and intervention of Supreme Court but even after the lapse of eleven days the statements of the # Wrestlers are not being recorder under section 164 . Such tactics are being adopted to protect Brijbhushan from possible arrest. Issued summons to police to ask for the reasons behind these lapses tweeted DCW chief Swati Maliwal.

In the summon issued to the New Delhi DCP the DCW chairperson sought reasons from the police in detail for failing to arrest the accused and also for not recording the statements of the Survivors under 164 CRPC despite the lodging of two FIRs one against POSCO, a minor wrestler complainant. It may be recalled that the women and men wrestlers have been sitting on protest Dharna at Jantar Jantar since April 23 after 3 months giving up the earlier Dharna in the month of January after being assured by the Youth and sports & I&B minister of complete justice to the women wrestlers who’d complained about sexual harrasment by the WFI chief and MP from Kaisarganj, UP who had been the chief of Wrestling Federation for the last twelve years. The chief of WFI has rejected all the accusations as false, biased and fabricated. Several senior leaders of various political parties Priyanka Gandhi, Arvind Kejrival, Delhi CM, former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, his son MP Deepender Hooda, CPM former MP Brinda Karat, Medha Parker, Barbara Bachao Andolan leader, Harish Rawat, farmers leader Rajesh Tikaith, entire KHAP and Delhi Commission for Women leader Swati Maliwal visited Jantar Mantar expressing their solidarity with protesting wrestlers demanding the arrest of WFI chief. Five days ago DCW chief had a brief scuffle with the police at Jantar Mantar when she had come there to meet the wrestlers who too had scuffle with police when they were bringing folding plywood beds at the protest site strongly and physically objected by police. The women police officer and personall had literally lifted her by hands and legs and forcibly put inside the car. She was detained and released later on.
