CUBAN AMBASSADOR IN PRESS CLUB OF INDIA ADDRESSES MEDIA SEEKING VARIOUS NATIONS ‘ SUPPORT TO BE SIGNATORY TO ITS RESOLUTION DEMANDING ENDING OF BLOCKADE AGAINST CUBA BY US

The Cuban ambassador to India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan Juan Carlos Marsan was at Press Club of India precincts to address the media in one of the significant “Meet The Press” events.

Addressing the media persons from various news channel, print and digital media Juon Carlos Marsan was highly critical of the United States accusing it for arbitrarily re – including Cuba in the list of the countries sponsoring terrorism.

Terming Cuba as the nation born out of revolution , Cuban Ambassador to India said that after US carried out its probe at various levels finally took the name of Cuba out of its list of the nations sponsoring terrorism earlier but after the re- election of the present regime in US their country has again been included in the list of the terror sponsoring nations to their utter shock and surprise.

He condemned it in strongest possible terms adding further that the United States has imposed sanctions against the Cuba for the last five decades for no fault of theirs, thus badly and adversely affecting its economy,trade, sports,tourism, technolgical, pharmaceutical and health sector in particular.

The Cuban ambassador Juan Carlos Marsan said that blockade against Cuba by the US has also impacted its tourism on wide scale including the sports.

Explaining about the cumulative monetary loss on massyve scale due to the US imposed blockade against Cuba , ambassador Juan Carlos Marsan said that from March 2024 to February 2025, the damages caused by the blockade ore estimated at 7 billion 556 million 100 thousand USD, which represents
049% increase compared to the previous period.This represents an impact of more than 629million 675 thousand USD per month, more thon 20 million 701 thousand USD per day, and more than 862 thousand usD per hour.

at 170 billion 677 million 200 thousand USD said the Cuban ambassador to India.

The US government barring India doesn’t grant VISA to the tourists of those countries who visit Cuba. This practice of the United States government has discouraged tourists of various countries to visit CUBA apprehensive of their VISA being revoked or not getting the US VISAs.

He said that even Indian tourists visit to CUBA has also reduced considerably to merely 20000 tourists annually.

Demanding the support of India and other countries of the world to stand in solidarity with CUBA wholeheartedly to pressurise US government to lift the five decades old blockade against his country including withdrawal of the CUBA’s name from list of the countries sponsoring terrorism, ambassador JUAN Carlos Marsan said that the CUBA is preparing a resolution in this regard to be submitted to UNGA in the last week of October against the said blockades by US including taking out its name from the terrorists sponsor nation with the optimism that the countries of the world including India will be signatory to this resolution in wider humanitarian interest of CUBA.

The Cuban ambassador to India said there is nat a single sector of Cuba’s social and economic life that has been excluded to the effects of the blockade, which directly affects their well-being, quality of life, and their rights adding that he welcomed and appreciate the international community’s ongoing support for Cuba’s efforts to end the blockade,

In the existing complex situation, we reiterate our gratitude for this valuable support and hope to once again count on the overwhelming majority countries, including India,as it have been in the last 32 years,
to vote in favour of the Cuban draft resolution asserted the Cuban ambassador to India,

He earnestly and humbly appealed to all the nations of the world to help CUBA emerge out of this long standing morass created by United States of America.

The president of the Press Club of India Gautam Lahiri introduced the ambassador Juan Carlos Marsan with the media persons before the ambassador commenced his address to the media.
