Cross voting in Himachal by Congress MLAs lead to victory of BJP candidate, former Congress MP joins BJP and now several state Congress lawmakers hobnobbing with saffron party !
As the general elections are round the corner and former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi is busy enticing huge crowds in his Nya Yatra after the much successful Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, the Congress party is facing debacle first in the three states of the Hindi heartland and now defection of its leaders to the saffron party. While the former Congress MP from Gujarat ( five terms) Naran Rathwa who was also the state minister at the centre and Youth Congress leader Sangram Singh Rathwa have joined BJP due to the lack of decision making at the top level, about nine ruling party Congress MLAs have cross voted ensuring the BJP leader Harsh Mahajan’s victory and shameful defeat of senior advocate of supreme Court and Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi in Himachal Pradesh despite Congress having sufficient majority and ruling in the state.
As this was not enough, in Uttarakhand too there are speculations about ten state lawmakers likely to betray the opposition party Congress to join the saffron party. However there are no confirmation in this regard and can be termed as mere rumours. There are reports that in Uttarakhand Congress there are atleast ten lawmakers who are either hobnobbing with the top BJP leaders or have already been in their contacts. The state top leaders of BJP have already sounded the central leadership in this regard but are waiting for their clearance. Sources reveal that the state lawmakers of Congress are from interior constituencies and plain areas as well, who are still in contact with the top BJP leadership discussing various pros and cons for their possible defection if any.
It may be recalled that a few days before, the state BJP president and the newly elected Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt has while speaking to reporters given an open call to Congress MLAs to join BJP if they really believe in the pro developmental projects of prime minister Narendra Modi adding that if they do so they are welcome with open arms and the saffron party will get them elected as state lawmakers on party symbol in the near future.
The BJP’s main strategy is to weaken the Congress by hook or by crook and to ensure re victory of BJP MPs in all the five lok sabha seats which it had been won for the last ten years. There are also rumours that the top part leadership is seriously planning to change candidates on all the five seats to ensure that the anti incumbency at the MPs level is killed forthwith and the people having tremendous faith in PM Modi’s leadership may vote for the new candidates.
On the other hand the Congress party seems to be badly faction ridden with leaders namely Harish Rawat, Karan Mahara , Pritam Singh, Dr.Harak Singh Rawat, Ganesh Godiyal and Yashpal Arya etc having their own factions and not ready to see each other eye to eye despite the central high command issuing firm warning to all the sections to join hands and fight the general elections unitedly to ensure BJP’s defeat and party’s victory hands down.
