CRACKS IN OPPOSITION UNITY EXERCISE WITH TMC LEADER TRYING TO ISOLATE RAHUL GANDHI

While Congress party, its rank and file and even majority of political analysts and senior journalists are praising Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his successful 3700 kilometre Bharat Jodo Yatra across the nation terming him as the next political alternative to BJP n PM Narendra Modi if not fully than partially but the way opposition parties and its leaders are repeating the old pattern of bickerings within themselves trying to sideline the main and strongest opposition party Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi is seems absolutely unambiguous now that prime minister Narendra Modi’s way to power in 2024 national election had become clear and of no obstacle, at all.

The saffron party, its national leaders and even prime minister has on several occasions made it absolutely clear that in 2024 they are coming to power for sure. There have been lots of hullabaloo in Parliament over Adani Hindenburg issue including entire opposition holding protest demonstrations in Parliament precincts with majority of parties with Congress protesting vociferously but TMC agitating separately. However, despite all this the BJP seems to be hardly worried, the reason being – the badly fractured opposition and West Bengal CM Mamata Bannerjee, Uttar Pradesh Samajwadi chief n former CM Akhilesh Yadav including now in political hibernation BSP supremo Mayawati always trying to reflect opposition unity occasionally particularly conspiring against Congress party and propping themselves as prospective PM candidates.

Even NCP supremo Sharad Pawar also comes up in between to set his own narrative as the leader of opposition unity.

However, currently the West Bengal CM Mamta Bannerjee who had recently met the Uttar Pradesh former CM and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav under the guise of reuniting – the anti BJP opposition, the exercise made by her earlier also, always trying to isolate Congress proved to be a bad exercise never proving successful, as the fact of the matter is the people of the country can’t accept leaders like Mamata Bannerjee, Akhilesh Yadav of Mayawati as future leader of opposition unity or PM material as they not only lack the national image compared to PM Modi but have the image of leaders of regional parties with sectarian approach lacking national perspective in tackling burning problems and issues.

Moreover, the attitude of these over ambitious regional party leaders to minus Congress party and Sonia, Rahul Gandhi doesn’t fit into their conceptual thinking if it comes to form a national political alternative to the ruling BJP and its impressive leader PM Narendra Modi who still, despite all odds stands as an invincible leader in the national political frame and situation.

Sounds ridiculous that while one of the major opposition parties Congress is trying hard to unite opposition to challenge PM Modi ‘ s increasing influence and give a credible political alternative in 2024 – the TMC and its leader Mamta Bannerjee and MP Sushmita Dev are trying to isolate Congress n Rahul Gandhi blaming it as a confused party serving the purpose of BJP.

On Tuesday , the TMC’s vociferous MP Sushmita Dev attacked Congress tooth and nail labelling it as a fully confused party. For the last few days the TMC and Congress have been on the confrontation mode politically.

This confrontation seems to have reached a peak with the senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary openly blaming Bengal CM Mamta Bannerjee having fixed a deal with PM Narendra Modi.

This has led to TMC leaders and MPs including Mamta Banerjee taking a collision course with Congress and the TMC leader Ms Bannerjee meeting the UP former CM and SP leader Akhilesh Yadav but not Rahul Gandhi.

This narrow attitude of Mamta Bannerjee has resulted in bickerings within non BJP opposition parties and their unity efforts say political analysts.

Kindly recall that on Tuesday the TMC members of Parliament had singularly protested on Adani issue in Parliament precincts asking PM Modi to give a statement on this issue.

The Congress n other opposition parties had protested separately in Parliament precincts.

When questioned by media regarding holding separate protest demonstration and not with Congress etc by TMC MPs, TMC MP Sushmita Dev accused Congress as a confused party which blames ED when it takes action against Congress leaders in National Herald case but terms it alright when ED acts in Bengal against TMC leaders.

Terming Congress as the party with double standards or hypocritical, TMC MP Mrs Sushmita Dev said – the national party should never be opportunistic and hypocritical as is Congress which makes alliance with CPI( M) in Tripura but against it in Kerala where it’s in power.

This certainly means that Congress is a party full of confusion whereas TMC is not.

The main reason for increasing confrontation between Congress and TMC cropped up on Sunday when in a virtually addressed rally in Murshidabad, Bengal the TMC chief and West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee very clearly said that Rahul Gandhi is not capable of giving credible alternative to PM Modi and BJP. She said Rahul Gandhi as the leader of opposition unity can’t give PM Modi or BJP a credible fight.

She also blamed Rahul Gandhi for his statement in London and catagorically said that the BJP is using his statements to make PM Modi the hero of the nation.

The Congress party has in strongest possible terms criticized Mamta Bannerjee’s statement with Congress MP and leader Adhir Ranjan terming Mamta in league with BJP having allegedly fixed a deal with PM Modi. As per the Hindustan news Adhir Ranjan said that Mamata, Bannerjee by criticizing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is trying to make PM happy in order protect herself from the alleged future ED and CBI probes.

Political analysts have been specifically clear that any exercise of opposition unity keeping Congress aloof and on the back burner will only help BJP climb to power seamlessly again as Congress is the only party that has organisation and workers including leaders from Kashmir to Kenya Kumari. However, the role of the regional parties like TRS, TMC, Samajwadi Patty, RID, JD ( U) Naveen Patnaik’s party, CPI, CPM and other outfits of the South DMK, AIDMK etc can’t be ruled out. Parties like AAP should also be roped in by hook or by crook.

After Rahul Gandhi’s successful Bharat Jodi Yatra and his strong and determined stand on issues representing the common man of the country inside and outside parliament have made him more stronger and popular with Congress party getting revived nationally making it a more credible national political force than what it was earlier.
