Congress’s important pillar having worked in close proximity with all PMs from Indira Gandhi to Dr. Manmohan Singh, Azad resigns from Congress !

The Congress party is really in doldrums and jeopardy. After the resignation of the senior most Congress leader n veteran Supreme Court lawyer Kapil Sibal of the G 23 group another important wicket of the party has fallen down. The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, former union health minister, leader of opposition having worked with almost all the Congress prime ministers in close proximity Ghulam Nabi Azad has on Thursday resigned from all the party positions and primary membership of the 135 years old party Congress. He has resigned citing various reasons of his resignation in a five page detailed letter to the Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi. Ghulam Nabi Azad who was recently given the responsibility of the state organisation had resigned a few days ago and was annoyed with the party since the day he retired as Rajya Sabha member not made again by Congress high command. Even the prime minister Narendra Modi has lauded Ghulam Nabi Azad while speaking in Parliament for his being one of the best parliamentarian and a sombre politician while he was retiring as the Congress Rajya Sabha member which he represented for several decades. Ghulam Nabi Azad has been very critical about Rahul Gandhi penning that unfortunately after Rahul Gandhi’s entry in active politics especially after he became the Vice president of Congress party after 2013 the tradition or precedence of inner party democracy i. e. arriving at conclusions through mutual n free n frank discussions has come to an end. After Rahul Gandhi’s entry majority of the senior n veteran leaders have been sidelined and sycophants and inexperienced people given important responsibilities. He even tore the governments ordinance in front of the media exhibiting unambiguously as to how immature was he. Though such gimmicks and childish actions he had weakened the prestige and dignity of the Indian government as well as the prime minister wrote Azad in his letter addressed to Sonia Gandhi. While citing various other compelling reasons for his leaving the party with a heavy heart – Ghulam Nabi Azad has concluded the letter writing that despite me being in close proximity with Nehru Gandhi family, former PMs late Indira Gandhi, Sanjay Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi including great personal regards for her in individual trials n tribulations which would always continue , I am resigning because the Indian National Congress has lost both the will and the ability under the tutelage of the coterie that runs the AICC to fight for what is right for India. He further criticized the Congress leadership saying that in fact before starting Bharat Jodo Yatra the leadership should have undertaken a Congress Jodo exercise across the country. He finally concludes the resignation letter mentioning, it is therefore with great regret and an extremely laden heart that I have decided to sever my half a century old association with the Indian National Congress and hereby resign from all party positions including primary membership of the party.
