Congress Vice President Aqueel Ahmed, whose Muslim university statement led to Congress’s alleged defeat, expelled for six years

Earlier secretary and then elevated to the post of the Uttarakhand Congress before election, when he threatened to contest against the official Congress candidate from a constituency in Dehradun district proving to be a waterloo for Congress getting merely 18 seats against BJP’s 48, majorly on Muslim university issue as being propagated, Aqueel Ahmed has been expelled from the party for six years for anti party activities after a letter served to him by the general secretary of Uttarakhand Congress Mathura Prasad Joshi. In a letter of expulsion sent to Aqueel Ahmed of Seelakoi, the Uttarakhand Congress general secretary Mathura Prasad Joshi has written that during the assembly elections your irresponsible statements in print and electronics media had been against the prestige of the post your were holding. The image of the organisation has been badly damaged by your irresponsible statements. On 8 th February you were issued a explanation notice to explain your misconduct but you never responded and continued your statements in the print and electronics media annoying the party high command. In view of your irresponsible conduct the party has expelled you for six years from the primary membership of the party under clause 19 ( C) (4) of Congress Constitution.

It may be recalled that Aqueel Ahmed who was elevated to the rank of party vice president from secretaryship for accepting the party’s request to withdraw from the contest as independent, had in front of media said that the Congress party and its leaders have in principal agreed to built a Muslim University in case the party comes to power.

The vidio with Aqueel Ahmed’s statement became viral in social media, giving a strong weapon to exploit it against Congress n Harish Rawat, accusing him for appeasing the muslim community first giving a Holiday for Jumme Ki Namaz and then assuring them for a muslim university in Uttarakhand.

The BJP leaders allegedly left no stone unturned to spread this story explicitly with Harish Rawat openly denouncing and denying this charge clarifying that he would quit politics if this charge is, proved against him on both these counts. Even the top leaders, ministers and CMs of various states openly accused Rawat, Congress and it’s leaders of appeasing the minorities disturbing and negatively affecting the demography of Uttarakhand, a land of abode of God’s.

The Congress finally lost and even the party’s prospective CM too got defeated from Lal Quan constituency, losing from two seats earlier in 2017. However, Harish Rawat’s daughter Anupama Rawat won from Haridwar Rural seat. Today Anupama sat on a Dharna with a banner in her hand protesting against skyrocketing price rise of essential commodities including prices of petrol, diesal and domestic gas.

The expulsion of Aqueel Ahmed had costed Congress party dearly defeating it badly with votes of majority community polarising to the hilt say news analysts. However, his expulsion from Congress now is of no meaning when it is already too late to further annoy the minorities who always side with Congress say sources.
