The Congress party having won on 6 assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir against the 42 victories of National Conference will not be the part of the new government and would be extending its support from outside. The Congress party which was offered one ministerial berth in Omar Abdullah’s government preferred to sit out of the government supporting it from outside. Four independent MLAs and the only Aam Admi Party MLA have also extended their support to National Congress government. Meanwhile, it is believed that the Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, leader of the opposition Rahul Gandhi, General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi etc would be attending the swearing in ceremony with West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Chennai CM M.K.Stalin, former Maharashtra CM Udhav Thakrey , Sharad Pawar, SP chief and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav etc sent the invitation letters anday attend the swearing in ceremony of Omar Abdullah. The Congress party’s performance this time wasn’t good as in 2014 elections it has secured 12 seats whereas this time it could only win on 6 seats. The National Conference has been the the party with difference securing 42 seats in 90 member assembly with the main opposition BJP getting 27 seats from Hindi dominated Jammu region and PDP that formed the government earlier with BJP support could satisfy with only three.
