The general secretary of All India Congress Committee and member of parliament Randeep Singh Surjewala has sent an urgent memorandum to the Chief Election Commissioner through the party’s advocate Mr Omar Hoda complaining that the Karnataka, State Media Certification Commission has through an arbitrary decision refused to grant certification to several advertisements of the India National Congress. Complaining to the chief election commissioner and registering their strong protest the national general secretary of Congress Randeep Singh Surjewala has said that the decision of the Karnataka State Media Certification Commission to reject Congress party’s advertisements is completely incorrect and require urgent consideration. Annexing the copy of the rejection letter dated 6 April, 2023 along with the memorandum it is stated that the KMCC has rejected five videos which try to raise awareness among the electorates regarding the allegations raised against the BJP led ruling party government of Karnataka and Congress’s guarantee card being issued for the voters of the state. The Congress party has said that the allegations raised by Karnataka Commission in the said five videos are based on news reports as well as statements from the associations as, available in public domain, hence the decision rejecting the 5 videos requires urgent reconsideration by the election Commission says the memorandum. While compiling an indicative lidt of reports which verify and support the allegations raised by Congress in the said 5 videos, the memorandum says the Congress party urges the election Commission to treat the matter on extreme urgent basis and reconsider the decision taken by the Karnataka Certification Commission further mentioning that in the 2018 legislative elections for Karnataka the BJP was allowed to print and publish various advertisements ( ear campaigns) against the senior leaders of Indian National Congress under the title ” Sins of Congress”, wherein they had then raised certain objectionable allegations against the Congress Party and its government.
