Congress president Sonia Gandhi want Harish Rawat’s clearance before admitting Dr Rawat in Congress reveal sources
Will Dr. Harak Singh Rawat’s entry in Congress be seamless as was the case with the earlier entrants of BJP leaders viz Yashpal Arya and Sanjiv Arya, the father son duo, both MLAs who had defected to BJP in 2016 along with Dr. Harak Singh Rawat and other rebel MLAs of Congress.
Though there are reports that on Tuesday Dr. Harak Singh Rawat alongwith his daughter in law, the former Miss India Anukriti Gusain and some BJP MLAs are joining the parent party Congress, according to a source close to veteran Congress leader, former CM and chairman of the election campaign committee, Harish Rawat has kept his entry in hold on the condition that Dr. Rawat realises his blunder joining BJP and if possible seeks apology. Harish Rawat, do not want Dr. Rawat in Congress at all keeping in view his betrayal and destabilising his government in April 2016.
This is the reason that his entry in Congress is being delayed. Otherwise usually political leaders are always curious and desperate to receive with open arms their previous senior leaders especially when elections are round the corner and such entry of rival party heavy weights give credence to the political party admitting them into their fold.
It is believed that Congress president Sonia Gandhi has catagorically said that till senior Congress leader Harish Rawat does not give his clearance, Dr. Harak Singh Rawat could not be accorded admission in the 125 year old party.
According to reliable sources Dr. Harak Singh Rawat is using the route of Uttarakhand Congress in charge Devendra Yadav and Harish Rawat’s bete noire Pritam Singh Rawat to seek entry in Congress, knowing very well that the former CM would never want him joining Congress at any cost posing further challenges.
He had met Congress chief Sonia Gandhi as well as Priyanka Gandhi in Delhi through Uttarakhand Incharge Devendra Yadav n Surjewala but Sonia has clearly said that though Dr. Rawat is welcome in the party but should get the clearance from former CM Harish Rawat who had while speaking to the media said that it will be a cumulative decision of the party and Dr. Rawat should at least accept his mistake for his joining BJP in 2016 when he was the Uttarakhand CM leading to his, government running into absolute crisis and seek public apology.
He also met the party spokesman n general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala. Fearing that the former Congress CM Harish Rawat will not so easily allow his entry into Congress as he had come to the “Sharan”, of Congress when expelled unceremoniously not earlier, having bad mouthed against him number of times while in BJP. Meanwhile, there are reports that Dr. Rawat has been asked to bring some BJP MLAs of Congress background along with him.
Though Dr. Rawat had after being expelled from the party said that he wants to join Congress unconditionally but sources say that after his entry he will be a direct threat to not only Harish Rawat by joining the camp of his rivals within the party but will also be a threat to Harish Rawat’s trusted former minister n former MLA from Kotdwar Surendra Singh Negi and Jyoti Rautela, who are strong contenders from Kotdwar and Lansdowne assembly seats.
Dr. Harak Rawat is the MLA from Kotdwar and is asking ticket for her daughter in law Anukriti Gusain from Lansdowne.
Kindly recall that if Dr. Harak Singh Rawat joins Congress he will annoy three Congress politicians of standing who will oppose him tooth and nail, disturbing the present set up of Congress in three assembly constituencies.
Being the MLA from Kotdwar if Dr. Harak Singh contests from here, former minister and MLA from Kotdwar, a seasoned Congressman is disturbed.
However, there are reports that Dr. Singh is wanting to contest from Kedarnath where sitting Congress MLA Manoj Rawat will be dislodged who in any case would never relent.
From Lansdowne Dr Rawat’s claim for ticket for his, daughter in law Anukriti Gusain will take the claim of Jyoti Rautela a Mahila Congress leader, who had been trying hard for the last several years who stood with the party during its thick and thin.
According to ANI tweet yesterday : I don’t want to make any statement on this. Expelled Uttarakhand BJP minister Harak Singh has not joined the Congress party yet. Party will take a decision after considering several angles said Former Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat.
