Congress releases its first list of 53 constituencies of Uttarakhand with only three tickets to women
The first list of 53 Congress candidates of Uttarakhand signed by the general secretary incharge CEC Mukul Wasnik has been released on 22 nd January at 11.30 PM.
This list didn’t include the names of the chairman of the Uttarakhand Congress election committee Harish Rawat, former cabinet minister Dr.Harak Singh Rawat and his daughter-in-law, former model and beauty queen Anukriti Gusain.
Leader of Opposition Pritam Singh and state Congress president Ganesh Godiyal will be contesting from Chakrata and Srinagar seats respectively as per the revelations made in this list. Out of the 53 candidates declared in its first list only three women were given ticket throwing to winds the slogan of general secretary of the party Priyanka Gandhi allotting 40% tickets to women in Uttar Pradesh.
Though she is trying to fulfill this demand in UP, the daughter of chief election strategist of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat, Anupama Rawat, chief of Mahila Congress had demanded 40% tickets for women backed by firmer Congress chief of Uttarakhand Kishore Upadhyay.
To retain old guards, new and promising guards are overlooked . There are some candidates who have a very good track record and are known for their good work to the mandate, but they are not given entry. It is simply because party doesn’t want to buy annoyance of old and feeble guards. At the end, the sufferers are local mandate.
