Congress leaders Venugopal and Gohil reach petrol pump in Delhi on horse cart n protest against outrageous prise rise

Hundreds of Congress and youth Congress activists including activists of its frontal organisations staged protest demonstrations and sit ins in front of various petrol pumps holding playcards and raising slogans against the BJP led NDA government and appealing/ demanding roll back of the skyrocketing prise rise in petrol, diesal and gas hitting the consumers hard especially during the critical pandemic times thus creating an all round inflation.

The Congress party had organised protest demonstrations in front of hundreds of petrol pumps at the pan India level on Friday to arouse public opinion against the prise rise in Petro products making petrol beyond the reach of common man as in some state the per litre prise of petrol n diesal has crossed Rs. 100 in atleast six states of the country.

In the national capital it has reached Rs. 96 per litre. Hundreds of activists also courted arrests or had been arrested under various charges of violating Covid 19 regulations as well.

In Delhi about thirty Youth Congress activists of Delhi state have courted arrest. To name some states the protests had taken place in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, MP, HP, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Bengal, etc . In the national capital charges of violation of Covid 19 regulations have been slapped against the protesting youth Congress activists after arresting them.

Meanwhile the protesting Congress activists led by the senior leaders n party general secretary K C Venugopal and Shakti Singh Gohil even reached the petrol pump at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi on a horse cart to protest against the outrageous rise in prices.

“We demand that the government immediately rollback the hikes due to which the price of essential commodities is also rising. The government must stop this loot,” Venugopal, who is the Congress general secretary, said.

Meanwhile while protesting at Jaipur against the arbitrary hike in prises of petrol and diesel former deputy chief minister of Rajasthan made mockery of the Congress MP Rita Bahuguna’s statement that the BJP is trying to bring him in the saffron party fold claiming that she had spoken to Pilot. Replying to queries of TV news channel reporters Sachin Pilot said that she must have spoken to Sachin Tendulkar not me. It may be recalled that after the recent joining of former Congress union minister Jitin Prasad to BJP there are rumours that Sachin Pilot who is not in good terms with the Rajasthan CM may switch to BJP following the footsteps of former colleagues Jyotiraditya n Jitin but after giving this state refuting Rita Bahuguna’s claim Sachin Pilot has for the present, at least, put the lid on the speculation ( rumours) of his supposed joining BJP.

It may be recalled that the prises of Petro products have been enhanced 21 times during the Modi government’s tenure since it came to power in 2019 for the second tenure hitting the common man hard with petroleum n diesal prices even crossing Rd 100 in some states with Delhi witnessing Rs. 96 for a little of Petrol. According to a report of factly .in the union government enhanced the excise duty on Petrol n diesal by Rs 10 n 13 respectively in May 20 through changes in various duties n ceases. This enhancement is unambiguously reflected in the excise duty collection figures starting June 2020. The consumption of Petroleum products have drastically decreased during pandemic times in 2020- 21 with the situation improving in the later part of the year, but what is surprising , that despite reduced consumption the excise duty revenues increased significantly starting June 2020. Today the international per barrel prise of Brent crude oil is USD 71 per barrel from USD 70.2 per barrel at the beginning of the year.
