Congress and opposition to raise Pegasus issue in Parliament on Monday

After Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s accusation against the central government of treason for allegedly tapping phones of opposition leaders, armed forces and judiciary including journalists etc using the spyware in view of the New York Times report that India bought the Pegasus spyware from Israel as party of a 2 billion dollars deal in 2017, the Congress party said that it will raise the issue in the budget session of Parliament on Monday. In a tweet Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted: Modi government bought Pegasus to spy on our primary democratic institutions, politicians and public. Government functionaries, opposition leaders, armed forces, judiciary all were targeted by these phone tappings. This is treason tweeted former Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

The opposition parties, also urged the apex court to take cognisance of this serious matter. Meanwhile, the Youth Congress activists on Saturday protested in New Delhi and courted arrest on this issue led by vociferous slogan shouting I Y C chief Sriniwas BV.

According to IYC media incharge Rahul Rao, the Indian Youth Congress activists led by its president Sriniwas BV today protested against Pegasus espionage case in New Delhi raising slogans and holding play cards in their hands highlighting the revelation made in New York Times about the purchase of Pegasus equipments from Israel in 2017 to allegedly spy on the opposition leaders n others. After tremendous confrontation with the police several Youth Congress activists courted arrests.

Addressing the protestors of IYC the president Sriniwas said :

The manner in which the spying and blackmailing was done by Pegasus Software on the leaders of the opposition, on the judges, on the colleagues of the media and on other citizens is a very serious subject, the evidence of which has now come to the fore.

Speaking on the occasion Srinivas BV said Congress party leader Shri Rahul Gandhi had asked two questions to the government in July 2021, to which the Prime Minister did not answer but now reports are out from New York Times, and it’s absolutely clear that the constitutional norms and laws are been assassinated.

Democracy is being trampled under its feet added IYC chief. The fundamental rights of the citizens of the country are being suppressed! Modi government has committed treason, played with national security said IYC chief.

The country’s opposition leaders, including Shri Rahul Gandhi, journalists of various respected media organisations and people holding constitutional posts were spied on said Sriniwas BV.

National President IYC Srinivas BV also blamed the BJP govt quoting various news reports that Pegasus was not only used for journalists, leaders of opposition and BJP ministers, but were also allegedly used against the heads of the security agencies of the country, who protect us and defend our borders.

By doing such an act, the BJP led NDA regime has hurt the image of the country at the international level as well said IYC chief criticizing the government.

National President Shri Srinivas BV demanded that this espionage case should be investigated at the earliest by the JPC and under the supervision of the Supreme Court.

On this occasion, National Media In-charge of Indian Youth Congress Rahul Rao, National Secretary and Delhi Co-Incharge Khushboo Sharma, National Secretary Shivi Chauhan, Mitendra Darshan Singh, Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress President Rannvijay Singh Lochav, Haryana Pradesh Youth Congress President Divyanshu Budhi Raja and many other Youth Congress workers were present who were detained by the police carrying them in DTC buses and releasing later in for violating the section 144 prohibitory orders imposed in and around parliament precincts.
