SKM strongly condemns and demands unconditional apology from Kangana Ranaut, says will publicly boycott her !

Samyukt Kisan Morcha has taken cognizance of the shockingly derogatory and factually incorrect comments made by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut in an interview.

It is extremely sad that this MP, who has a habit of abusing farmers, has now reached the extreme of calling Indian farmers murderers, rapists, conspirators and traitors.

It is not surprising that this MP is talking such nonsense, because it has been the BJP’s long standing policy to insult and defame the historic anti-corporate farmers movement led by SKM on the borders of Delhi.

In a press statement issued in New Delhi the Samyukt Kisan Morcha said that despite insults and deliberate provocations, SKM has always maintained that the farmers’ protest against the anti-farmer laws and pro-corporate policies of the BJP-led central government is peaceful, lawful and in accordance with the fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution of India.

The statement said that the biggest achievement of the farmers’ movement is its widespread nature and the supreme sacrifice of 736 martyrs which include five victims of the Lakhimpur Kheri massacre, in which four farmers and a journalist were killed, who were run over by the moving vehicle of Kangana Ranaut’s party leader and former Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Teni and his son who is now facing trial on murder charges.

The statement added that during the entire period of this nationwide farmer movement, not a single person lost his life in any violence during the farmers’ struggle around the capital Delhi.

This farmers’ movement is the heir of the great anti-colonial struggle of the Indian people against British imperialism and even today it is fighting against the imperialist-driven corporate forces and its anti-farmer policies. Warning BJP MP the SKM statement said that it would be better if Kangana Ranaut tries to know the history and politics of the farmers’ movement in India before calling it anti-national.

SKM demands that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself apologize to the farmers of India for the condemnable and false comments made by an MP from his party. The Prime Minister should not allow his party and its members to misbehave with the ‘Annadatas of India’ who provide food security to the country. This is not only the constitutional duty of the Prime Minister, but the people of India expect nothing less from him.

SKM has further demanded that BJP MP Kangana Ranaut immediately tender an unconditional apology to the farmers of India for her inappropriate and false statements and maintain the dignity of her position, otherwise SKM has no option but to call for her public boycot.
