Complaint lodged by a Congress activist n advocate against doctoring of the photo of Harish Rawat in long white beard and Muslim Red Cap going viral in social media

The election campaigning in Uttarakhand has taken a Muslim Hindu turn that may amount to vitiating the peaceful environment of this hilly state called Devbhoomi, land of abode of Gods famous for its four historic religious shrines and people of all communities living together in peace for centuries.

These days the doctored picture of veteran Congress leader, former chief minister and chairman of Uttarakhand election campaign committee Harish Rawat with a long white beard without moustache, branding him as a muslim religious leader is going viral in social media especially in whatsApp with repeated photo posts with objectionable titles unambiguously giving an impression about Rawat appeasing the minority community.

Though the Bhartiya Janata Party and Congress party leaders have been accusing each other of appeasement towards the Hindu and muslim communities respectively all along but in Uttarakhand an issue of Jumme ki Namaz holiday issue and setting up of muslim university in Uttarakhand, strongly denied by Harish Rawat, has cropped up with BJP allegedly trying to exploit the situation to its fullest advantage during the ongoing election campaign say Congress leaders and political analysts.

This controversy of the doctored picture being repeatedly circulated in social media has annoyed and infuriated the Congress party leaders and Harish Rawat so much that while the latter has posted a post in social media yesterday accusing BJP of committing a forgery of branding him as a minority appeasing leader in the name of establishing Muslim university, wearing Muslim cap and declaring Holiday for Namaz etc, whereas it’s not a truth as claimed by Rawat, a Congress leader and advocate of Kotdwar Pravesh Rawat has lodged a written complaint in a police station.

Subsequently the BJP Uttarakhand has in its twitter handle posted a copy of the complaint and picture of Congress leader Harish Rawat in a while beard and red Muslim cap tweeting in hindi : Harda to quell the freedom of expression in democracy, u are taking the support of police.

Whose fear makes you apprehensive ?Why have you become frustrated. But you may lodge as much as FIR against us, the workers of Bhartiya Janata Party will not bow down and will continue to protect the culture of Devbhoomi ( land of abode of God’s) said the BJP Uttarakhand tweet.

As per the news floating in there is tremendous outrage among Congress workers n leaders of the state as the doctored picture of Harish Rawat in beard n Muslim cap doing the rounds in social media has been allegedly posted by BJP activists from their Facebook post being repeatedly posted in whatsApp n even in twitter.

The election Commission of India should intervene immediately in wider public interest and to avoid any possible fall out of such undignified and immoral social media campaigning during elections in Uttarakhand before things get out of control demand the right thinking people of the state.
