Come Monsoon, major Uttarakhand roads come on standstill mode ! Vehicle on Chowkhutiya Masi road blocked for hours due to tons of silt coming in on the road

During monsoons, the condition of roads and pathways in Uttarakhand becomes extremely bad with commuters not able to ply their vehicles meeting with fatal accidents or traffic snarls for hours together. In some areas the unmetalled roads are full of heavy silt or rain water making them the roads of clay with vehicles literally sticking on them and submerging not able to move ahead even an inch. The life in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh during monsoons is really unpredictable with landslides, roads with potholes , excessive silt , roads caving in and boulders falling down etc are the very common features resulting in tremendous fatalities. On Choukhutiya Maasi road ahead of Tyagi near Bhumia Temple the road already in bad condition has become extremely clay oriented after the malba in tins came on it stopping all the heavy and light vehicles for hours together with the commuters demanding the JCBs to clear the road ad of the clay silt. It has been learnt that the soil that is being built for Jhuranga village has fallen from this road. When there was a possibility of soil falling, then why was the road not cleaned beforehand ? Question the commuters and local populace. They asked in anger : When there was a possibility of landslide, then why was the road not cleared beforehand? What is the justification for obstructing such an important road like this? Do the officials of the concerned department not care about the inconvenience being faced by the drivers and pedestrians? asked annoyed people.
