CLOUD BURST LEAD TO MASSIVE FLASH FLOODS IN THARALI, UTTARKASHI, FOUR DEAD AND FIFTY MISSING, SEVERAL HOUSES , HOTELS SWEPT AWAY


A massive cloud burst resulting in havoc in magnificent Darali village in Uttarkashi today where due to excessive pouring of water with silt, mud and boulders weighing millions of tonnes the forceful flash floods swept away many houses leading to four deaths and more than fifty persons going missing. The flash floods were so fierce like devils entering the village that no one could get a single moment to exercise caution and go for safety. The ecological disaster unleashed a torrent of water and debris overwhelming the region and warranting the emergency multi agency response. The badly affected area with good number hod houses felling down like pack of cards was just four kilometres away from Harshil Army camp and close to enter seat of Gangotri. The horrific flash floods reminded of the cloud burst of 2013 June when the Chorabari lake was leaked due to excessive water fall in millions of litres sending along heavy boulders, silt, mud sweeping alm the houses and commercial building resulting in thousands of casualties. The massive flash floods at Dharali has damaged, houses, hotels and even commercial constructions.

According to the India today news report the overflowing Kheer Gadh drain in the Harsil area further intensified the destruction, prompting the Uttarkashi Police, SDRF, NDRF Army, and other rescue teams to launch relief efforts in the worst-hit zones. The Indian Army, which was stationed near the landslide site, was among the first responders, rescuing at least 15 people.
The chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami Honorable Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah ji took information on the unfortunate incident of cloudburst in Dharali area of Uttarkashi district over the phone. During this, he was informed about the relief and rescue operations being carried out by the state government.
The Honorable Union Minister has assured all possible assistance from the Central Government. He assured that
teams of the district administration, Indian Army, NDRF and SDRF are engaged in relief and rescue operations in the affected areas of Dharali (Uttarkashi). People are being evacuated to safer places on a priority basis and the situation is being continuously monitored. I am in constant touch with senior officials in this regard and the situation is being closely monitored. I pray to God for everyone’s safety said the chief minister Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Prime minister Narendra Modi wrote on X expressing his concern over the flashfloods in Uttarkashi : I express my condolences to the people affected by this tragedy in Dharali, Uttarkashi. Along with this, I wish well for all the victims. I have taken information about the situation by talking to Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami ji. Under the supervision of the state government, relief and rescue teams are making every possible effort. No stone is being left unturned in providing help to the people.
