CBI serves notice to former CM Harish Rawat. Will respond to the court on 4 th July says Rawat
The Central Bureau of Investigation sleuths reached former Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat’s residence at Dehradun where he wasn’t available, but the notice was served.
This notice pertains to a sting operation case which was conducted by Umesh Kumar, now MLA from Khanpur and then the owner of Samachar Plus television news channel based in Dehradun that led to the downfall of Harish Rawat led Congress government after imposition of President’s rule in the year 2016. The sting was conducted at Jolly grant airport where conversation pertaining to horse trading was recorded between Umesh Kumar and Harish Rawat the video tape of which is with CBI as the same went viral in social media and in various news channels creating quite an uproar in political circles of Uttarakhand and BJP, Congress. The response to this CBI notice will have be be submitted in CBI Court in Dehradun on 4 th July said Rawat as the CBI had earlier submitted a plea in the court to grant them the permission to take the voice samples of former CM Harish Rawat , former Cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat , MLAs Umesh Kumar and Madan Singh Bisht.
It may be recalled that two operation cases are in CBI one conducted by Umesh Kumar in a horse trading case when more than ten MLAs of Congress had changed sides joining BJP and the second operation was conducted while Dr. Harak Singh Rawat and Madan Bisht were interacting. Mr. Rawat said that he will reply to the CBI notice to the honourable court on 4 th July.
Rawat said that the sting operation was conducted against him conspiratorially. However, Rawat wrote a small piece in his Facebook post and also tweeted annexing it on his Twitter handle.
Rawat wrote in Hindi : Friends I had already told the CBI that I will cooperate fully because as the investigation will go further, at various CBI levels there will be logics and counter logics. The way BJP has propagated these allegations on me with ulterior motive, it is crystal clear that they have created a confusion tweeted Rawat.
My social life is an open book but the CBI was in such a hurry that this morning when I had gone to give EID greetings to some of my friends the CBI dashed into my house with a notice. I wasn’t at my house. I therefore decided to invite them and received the notice wrote Rawat in his post.
The CBI case was lodged against Harish Rawat in 2016 and was summoned by the premier investigating agency in May and June 2016 . Since then it was in cold storage and revived after seven years stirring the honest nest again.
Hoping pic will be clear on 4th July 2023
