Dharna and Candle march at Jantar Mantar on 28 th September, # Justice for Ankita Bhandari !
A candle march has been organised at Jantar Mantar on 28 th September at 4.00 PM by various, socio – political organisations to express n extend their solidarity with the ongoing movement demanding death to the culprits of a 19 year old innocent girl Ankita Bhandari at Chila Canal, Rishikesh. Prior to the candle March there is a Dharna from 10 PM onwards, finally converting it into candle march. Entire Uttarakhand is, in a state of shock and protest demonstrations, candle marches and torch light processions are being held in various parts of Uttarakhand and elsewhere demanding capital punishment to the culprits of Damini of Uttarakhand. It may be recalled that it was the same Jantar Mantar from where the cumulative voice against the culprits to give them death was raised and the honourable Dwarka fast track session court had awarded capital punishment to the killers of Damini of Najafgarh ” kiran Negi”. What happened in Uttarakhand is a blot on the system and the ruling political dispensation as the son of the BJP former state minister’s son is the prime suspect in the murder of Ankita by drowing her in Chila canal after pushing her in it. According to reports Ankita who worked in Pulkit Arya’s, resort as receptionist was allegedly forced into prostitution to which she bravely refused and fought finally meeting a sad tragic end. Massive attendance of people from cross section of the society are expected to attend this protest candle march. It may be recalled that that entire Uttarakhand is on a movement mode these days with torchlight processions n candle marches including protest demonstrations held in Pauri, Srinagar, Lansdowne, Almora, Dehradun etc.
