CAA notified. opposition parties Congress, TMC oppose. Term it as a ploy to polarise elections.
The Congress party came down heavily on the ruling party after it notified the Citizens Amendment Bill today, passed from both the houses of parliament in the month of December 2019.
The senior leader of Congress and former union minister, incharge of communication department of AICC Jairam Ramesh castigated the BJP led NDA government saying that it has taken four years and three months to notify the rules for the Citizenship Amendment Act that was passed by the Parliament in December 2019 adding that the Prime Minister claims that his Government works in a business-like and time-bound manner. The time taken to notify the rules for the CAA is yet another demonstration of the Prime Minister’s blatant lies said Ramesh. Blaming the government for implementing it after so much delay and derive maximum political mileage by polarising the issue Jairam Ramesh said : After seeking nine extensions for the notification of the rules, the timing right before the elections is evidently designed to polarise the elections, especially in West Bengal and Assam. It also appears to be an attempt to manage the headlines after the Supreme Court’s severe strictures on the Electoral Bonds Scandal said Ramesh through his post on social media platform X.
Meanwhile an important partner of INDIA NATIONAL DEVELOPMENTAL INCLUSIVE ALLIANCE TMC Supremo and the West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee too has apposed the implementation of the CAA categorically saying that she would not let it implement in West Bengal.
Speaking to reporters after the news of notification of CAA came, the fierest and vocal opponent , angered Mamata Bannerjee said that her government will oppose anything that discriminates one community against another. Opposing its implementation tooth and nail especially in West Bengal Mamata Bannerjee stated that in India, people have diverse cultures and enjoyed guaranteed rights to property, education, ownership and right to vote to eject representatives of their choice but apprehends that the Citizens amendment Bill could be used as a precursor to implementing National Citizens Register across the country. She clarified that she won’t implement it in West Bengal.
It may be recalled that the much awaited CAA passed in 2019 has been notified today by the ministry of home affairs.
After the implementation of the CAA the Hindus, Sikhs, Parsis , Jains living in trouble or being discriminated in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan can come to India and seek permanent citizenship which would be duly granted .
The union minister Amit Shah today informed about the notification of CAA on his social media handle X lauding prime minister Narendra Modi . He wrote :
The Modi government today notified the Citizenship (Amendment) Rules, 2024. These rules will now enable minorities persecuted on religious grounds in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan to acquire citizenship in our nation. With this notification PM Shri
@narendramodi Ji has delivered on another commitment and realised the promise of the makers of our constitution to the Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians living in those countries.
