Bus coming from GANGOTRI to Uttarkashi with 35 passengers of Gujarat falls in a gorge fifty metres down at GANGNAANI on GANGOTRI highway leading to 7 deaths and 26 pilgrims being injured but saved.

A very severe accident has occurred on Gangotri national Highway today near GANGNAANI when a bus carrying thirty five pilgrims from Bhavnagar, Gujarat, under the jurisdiction of Tehsil Bhatwadi, Uttarkashi while coming back from Gangotri fell in a deep gorge, fifty metres downwards killing 7 pilgrims and injuring 26 sending shock waves all around. The bus UK 7 PA 8585 with about 36 pilgrims of Bhav Nagar Gujarat who had come for paying obeisance were returning back from GANGOTRI ON GANGOTRI NATIONAL HIGHWAY when the driver couldn’t control it and fell in a fifty metres down gorge hitting against the rocks taking acrobatics resulting in seven instant deaths due to severe injuries and 26 passengers being injured, some seriously. The District magistrate Abhishekh Ruhela and senior police officials reached the accident spot and monitored the rescue operation carried by NDRF, SDRF and medical teams. The injured were ferried to the Uttarkashi district hospital for treatment in number of ambulances and private vans. The chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami in a message on X earlier Twitter wrote in Hindi : Received an extremely painful news about a bus meeting a dreaded accident coming from GANGOTRI to Uttarkashi. Directions have been issued for immediate treatment and relief and rescue operation of the injured . May the Almighty render peace to the departed souls and place at His feet including enough strength to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss.

During heavy rains in monsoon majority of the roads are with lot of pot holes and are slippery on which the vehicles in speed or otherwise often skid leading to their falling in gorge and subsequent casualties as it happened in this case as well reveal sources.
