The lust for building multistorey buildings to generate rent income and commercial output in Uttarakhand without going into the consequences especially during monsoon due to the land on which such huge constructions are made withering out resulting in falling of these buildings like a pack of cards is increasing.
In Uttarakhand since the majority of the mountains are on the growing stage with loose soil construction of big or four storeyed buildings at high altitude areas, particularly, is extremely risky and leads to human and property losses on a massive scale.
The fresh incidents of subsidence in the Joshimath city, the gateway to ancient spiritual destinations like Badrinath, Kedarnath and Hemkunth Sahib where over one thousand houses had developed cracks including some commercial buildings are very much the instances which substantiate this very fact and restricts us to construct multistory building in high altitude mountainous areas.
As a sequel to this fact the senior writer and journalist of Tehri Garhwal Mahipal Singh Negi has posted two pictures on his social media post informing that a building worth crores is in danger which is under construction. This is the building of Kendriya Vidyalaya New Tehri. The building has come under threat due to the collapse of the wall. Just below it is the cowshed of Gopal Goulok Dham, in which about 45 cows and calves and the family that takes care of them also live. Just imagine if these huge buildings collapse in view of its “PUSHTA” SUPPORT BASE already destroyed what will be the fate of the family members living in the vicinity and the forty five cows ?
