Braveheart Chandrashekhar Harbola’s body brought to Haldwani after 38 yrs. Accorded final adieu with full state honours. All in tears !

The dead body of brave heart martyr Lance Naik Chandrashekhar Harbola who got trapped in a massive landslide and thunder storm in 1984, 29 th May, along with 18 other compatriots have been brought to Haldwani and consigned to flames in the presence of hundreds of people in tears alongwith the bereaved family, raising slogans hailing him for his supreme sacrifice for the nation. Belonging to 19 Kumaon regiment, late Chandra Shekhar Harbola was accorded full state honours during the final bidding of adieu to this brave heart. It was indeed a very touching moment for the family of brave heart Harbola in particular whose wife has now turned 66 and both the daughters married crossed forty years of age, having never seen the face of their deceased father earlier as they were just 1.5 years n 4 years old respectively when her father was martyred in a massive thunderstorm n landslide in Siachin, on 29 th May, 1984. His body was recovered from a bunker after 38 years by the Army petrol party in Siachin recognised by the metal batch and number, his body was carrying. The 14 dead bodies of the 19 bravehearts buried under snow were not recovered except the bodies of five. This is the sixth recovered body brought after 38 protracted years, amid sea of tears. The chief minister of Uttarakhand and leader of opposition of Congress Pushkar Singh Dhami and Yashpal Arya and several others were present on this occasion to bid final adieu to this brave heart. His body was today brought draped in national tricolour by Kumaon regiment to Haldwani amid raising of slogans hailing Chandra Shekhar Harbola for his supreme sacrifice for the nation. The martyred soldier’s wife, grand children n daughters were in trauma n pain to see him after 38 long years who was earlier cremated without his dead body. Our heartfelt tributes and deepest condolences to the bereaved family and richest tributes to the daredevil, brave heart Chandrashekhar Harbola who was merely 28 years old when the tragedy occured.
