A new controversy has erupted in the Johri forests under Mussouri Dehradun jurisdiction when open violation of Forest rules are being done and bungalows constructed inside jungles on private land including illegal power connections granted with power network being laid in the open contravention of Uttarakhand and central forest rules.
Situated in Massouri in the vicinity of Johri village known as Johri forests, the forest rules are openly being flouted not only by the power and electricity department but also by the housing department as good number of houses/ bungalows have been built in Johri forests and after that the illegal electricity connections are being provided inside the forest areas as according to the established forest act neither construction nor not bungalows/ concrete houses can be built inside jungles where hundreds of fully grown trees are cut before going for construction.
The spokeswoman of Congress quite outspoken Sujata Paul has openly criticized the senior bureaucrats of the concerned departments questioning their integrity and credibility asking who and how the illegal permission has been granted to built permanent cemented bungalows and then electric connections provided inside the cohesive jungles of Johri ? Meanwhile the DFO has now agreed and admitted that the power department has committed an illegal act of stretching long network of power connection inside the jungle which is strictly prohibited. Accoding to the latest report the Mussourie forest division officer Amit Kanwar said that an application was submitted by one Abhishekh Vaish in Pashwadoon Johri authority for granting of permission for building a boundary wall and shrubs clearance.
The revenue officials and the forest department with the applicant has conducted an inspection of the area.
It was revealed after the the inspection in that the area it was found that the precincts are completely engulped with plants and dry plants in abundance . These plants are of SAAL prajaties. They also found that on 3 rd April on Johari JaKhan Road the electricity department has without permission illegally laid down the power lines to obviously oblige the man who had built a bungalow inside the jungles on his private land.
The power department got the information for illagaly building a boundary and laying electricity line inside the jungle without seeking permission.
The work was immediately stopped and the cases lodged against the concerned Junior engineer and Abhishekh Vaishya. This is how in the interior jungles of Uttarakhand the laws of the land are being violated openly and the ousiders building bungalows inside the jungle territory breaking the jungle laws.
