Former DAV PG College student union president and BJYM Metropolitan General Secretary Jitendra Singh Bisht died in a tragic road accident on Shimla bypass road last night.
The accident occurred near St. Jude’s School when Jitendra and his friend Hrithik were standing on the roadside.
They were suddenly hit by a speeding car, seriously injuring both. With the help of locals, they were rushed to Wellmed Hospital.
Where he was declared brought dead.
The driver of the car fled the scene after the incident, although police recovered the wrecked car a short distance away. Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle involved in the accident had been at a workshop for repairs.
Police have detained the workshop owner and begun questioning him.
Jitendra Bisht was elected DAV Student Union president in 2018 from an ABVP-backed panel.
He was currently serving as the General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Dehradun Metropolitan. He leaves behind a grieving family, including his one and a half year old son.
The news of Jitendra’s death has created a wave of mourning among student politicians and BJP workers.
BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt, former DAV College President and Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, Congress leader Suryakant Dhasmana, BJP leader Ravindra Jugran Ashish Rawat including various political parties and social organizations have expressed deep grief over his untimely demise.
