The BJP government has assumed power in the national capital after twenty eight protracted years defeating the AAP government led by Arvind Kejrival who ruled in Delhi for eleven years.
After coming to power the BJP government led by Rekha Gupta , a first time CM has promised the Delhites to continue the freebies and concessions accorded by the previous AAP government but the Delhi auto drivers and auto and taxi owners are now feeling cheated after voting the saffron party government to power in the national capital.
According to the latest news the Delhi government has now backtracked from its pre election promises and has modified one of the freebies given to the thousands of auto and taxi owners n drivers of Delhi. The present government led by Rekha Gupta CM has now revoked the fitness fee of the free fitness examination of autos and taxis which was implemented in 2019 by the previous government.
The new rule already having come into effect from 1 st April will charge fitness fees from thousands of auto and taxi drivers in Delhi. This will adversely impact about fifty thousand Yellow and Black taxiwaalaas and over one lakh autowallas of the national capital territory who were availing this facility for about five years since 2019 free of cost.
The Kejrival government had since 2019 given tremendous relief to Delhi’s auto and taxi drivers and owners as the fitness fee of Rs.200 for autos and Rs.400 for taxis were not charged at all, being free entirely. Now according to the new rule the auto and taxi drivers will have to pay Rs.300 as the fitness fee and Rs . 50 as the late fee, which was earlier Rs. Twenty only.
The President of All Delhi Auto Taxi Transport Congress Union’s president Kishan Verma has strongly opposed and condemned the decision of the Delhi government saying that they have prior to election assured them of several reliefs and concessions but after coming to power, just in a month’s time they have taken back the previous freebie and instead imposed more fee on auto and taxi drivers of Delhi who are in thousands. He said that he has asked for appointment from the senior transport officers but all in vain.
It may be recalled that the former Delhi CM had been ridiculing the Delhi BJP government and its CM for not fulfilling their promise to deliver the Rs 2500 monthly doles to women of Delhi as promised by them during election especially by PM that on 8 th March International Women’s Day the accounts of Delhi women will acknowledge this amount but of no avail.
