BANGANI LANGUAGE MISSION BY THE TONS RIVER PEOPLE OF KOTHIGAD, PINGAL & MASMOR TERRITORY OF THE YAMUNA VALLEY
The identity of any community is considered by its dialect, language, art & culture. In the present scenario, there is a man from Bangan viz. Subhash Rawat ‘Shuba’ who took an initiative along with his core committee members – Suraksha Rawat, R.P. Vishal, Mohan Chohan, Sunita Mohan, Manju Rawat ‘Radha’, Jagmohan Bangani, etc. on the occasion of the Birthday ’26th Feb.’ of the late
Surendra Singh Rawat ‘SURAH’. As his nickname is Surah. It means noble path ‘Su+Rah’ or ‘Sura-H’ – Anti-liquor Movement ‘ He had an anti-tobacco campaign. After a couple of years of deputation, he was C.O. in civil defense. After his retirement as N. Thasildar, he left his suit-boot-tie & put on a simple white Kurta-Pajama having a path of a social activist. He had reservations about animal sacrifice rituals in temples. He played a pivotal role in connecting the main motor road to the remote 4 villages viz. Maijani, Bhutanu, Kiroli & Pauli. As a social reformer, he made a lot of efforts to make village people understand conducting meetings about the harms of toxic substances.
He was fond of children. He used to visit various schools.
Through a sporty & cultural interactive session make them aware of the values of life. He was 1st & the foremost literary dynamic personality from Bangan who wrote a prayer on God ‘MAHASU.’ Apart from it, he wrote various idioms/phrases and lyrics too. In 1971 wartime, an English newspaper titled: ‘MODERN DADHICHI’ to Surah ji who took an oath to donate one of his organs while he was alive to any army soldier who ever was needy in crisis.
Under the aegis of Sumner Valley School Dehradun, ‘Paitare Theatre’- a magazine ‘IZAAZ’ (present) was launched. Which was designed by Shashi Mohan Rawat, Decorated by Suraksha Rawat & edited by R.P. Vishal. There was a reading of a few articles by the writers Sunita, Manju & eminent theatre personality Dr. Suwarn Rawat.
Surah award-2022 was bestowed by the ‘Surah Award Committee’ to Balbeer Singh Rawat for his contribution to the field of the Bengani language.
