BADRINATH MLA and FORMER MINISTER, ONCE A COMMITTED CONGRESSMAN Rajendra Bhandari JOINS BJP IN DELHI
What was obvious, finally happened. The popular Badrinath assembly lawmaker and former Minister Rajendra Singh Bhandari who had quit Congress writing a single line letter to the state Congress chief giving no reason quitting it from the primary membership has today joined Bhartiya Janata Party expressing his complete faith and devotion towards the most capable leadership.
While joining Congress in the presence of the national media incharge of BJP and the party’s candidate from Pauri Garhwal Anil Baluni, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, Piyush Goyal, union minister and Incharge Uttarakhand BJP Dushyant Gautam , Rajendra Singh Bhandari who was till yesterday claiming to be the most committed soldier of Congress with an impeccable track record for being honest, today joined the saffron party pleading to work hard for it under the most dynamic and able leadership of prime minister Narendra Modi. Rajendra Bhandari’s joining the BJP will help and benefit the Garhwal parliamentary constituency’s candidate Anil Baluni tremendously as he is not only a novice in election politics but has nothing to do with the ground realities though Ganesh Godiyal of Congress is far far strong and effective but the Modi factor and polarisation of majority community votes compounded by defection of Congress leaders to BJP are adding to the advantage of the saffron party.
Rajendra Bhandari had also been minister in the previous Congress government and is quite popular and ground rooted in his constituency. Recently his wife Rajani Bhandari, the District president ( elected) was allegedly trapped in two cases of financial irregularities and was summoned by the investigative agencies. Since then Rajendra Bhandari MLA had been under extreme pressure reveal sources. This may perhaps be the primary reason for his joung the BJP which is ruling in the state as well as in the centre.
Just yesterday Ganesh Godiyal of Congress had shot important questions related to Pauri Garhwal constituency terming Anil Baluni an important leader and BJP candidate and today he had responded by admitting the Congress MLA to his party say BJP leaders of Uttarakhand.
It may be recalled that yesterday Dhan Singh Negi, the Congress candidate from Tehri in 2022 and earlier BJP MLA who had joined Congress after his ticket from Tehri was given to Kishore Upadhyay has rejoined his parent party BJP again a jolt to Congress in Uttarakhand.
Now Rajendra Bhandari will be deprived of his assembly membership as the anti-defection law requires a two-thirds majority for a group of MLAs or MPs from a particular party. Since Rajendra Bhandari is joining BJP alone, he is not able to meet the required strength, hence he will have to give up his assembly membership.
