The increasing jungle fires in various parts of Uttarakhand has resulted in the animals living there getting badly disturbed with majority of reptiles and small animals dying while the leopards and tigers running helter and skelter seeking shelter in villages and hectically prowling for human flesh. The human habitats on roadside, especially near the jungles are their best prey and the women going to jungles too are being attacked and killed brutally by these maneaters. The deforestation on large scale due to widening of roads and excessive noise pollution due to traffic movement compounded with forest fires have extremely disturbed the carnivores, especially the big cats who are hungry thus reaching the human habitats of roadsides or villages most of them without population due to migration in search of the human flesh finally becoming maneaters . In the past there have been several incidents of human kills in Pauri, Devprayag, Srinagar, Kaljikhal, near Maletha, Kirti Nagar, Dwarikhal, Lansdowne, in Pithoragarh, Nainital n other districts killing n injuring several human beings especially children and women. According to the latest news the forest department which is usually negligible and nin responsive to people’s urges has come in a very alert mode after two maneaters have started coming in Pithoragarh district especially severely attacking a woman at Berinag area’s Selifaq vicinity. After the attack of the man-eater injuring her severely in Berinag area of Kumaon divisions the villagers if Selifaq and surrounding areas are badly panicked demanding immediate tracking if the man-eater, tranquilizing it and getting it caged or killing it as these man-eaters have become a greatest threat to the children , women and men of the area moving around in prowl of human flesh. Last Saturday the dreaded man-eater had attacked and brutally injured a woman namely Kamala Devi , aged thirty five years who immensely resisted to the attempts of the Man-eater this compelling him to run away though by then she was gravely injured.
